| | I currently have an Intel Pentium D processor in my computer. AMD and Intel have been really close with processor technology so far. However I think that will change now that I've seen Intel's offerings to the market especially with the conroe processor. AMD will really have to work hard to catch up. |

i'm currently using intels in my desktop and laptop, not by choice, thats just what they came with. I must say tho that there will always be one in front of the other in terms of performance, the processor market is constantly changing, so there will never be one "better" processor, it does all come down to how much money you have and what you want to use it for

i've never used an AMD but my friends who make their own pcs use them and tell me they're way better. I might go with AMD for my next pc but as u guys said its more for hardcore gamers.. i lean towards being a multimedia/graphics user so should i stick with AMD or intel?

I really prefer amd's over Intel. I definetely think that even though amd chips are a whole lot cheaper than intels, it doesnt necesarrily mean that they are low quality. They are even better than intels most of the time, maybe because we see it from a gamers point of view, in which I think amd is stronger, but in mobility I think that intel i the leader right now. I really dont care much about mobility, so I would rather get an amd chip and some extra ram with the money I would be saving.

I prefer AMD cause it is not as expensive as Intel and much better for gaming. Just because AMD CPU clock is alot lower doesnt mean its less powerfull than Intel. Intel has been lagging behind AMD for some time now, yet they still cant come up with a reasonably priced chip that matches the performance of its AMD equivalent. Yea, some people would prefer Intel just because it offers the support for DDR2. However, once again, higher clocks dont mean more power as AMD with its DDR3200 can easily beat Intel with DDR2 and it will cost less than Intel. So consider these facts and choose wisely.

Nowadays i choose AMD, mostly because of the price but also AMD seems to perform better than the Intel equivalent. Reliability is something i cannot fault Intel on. I still have an old Pentium 120 that works without issue. Ok it runs Win95 still and has a whopping 32MB ram to keep it honest but it still works. 1 point for Intel.

I haven't really come across many Amd processors before although I have heard of the Company name. I prefer to go for the more well known companies, therefore, I use an intel pentium processor. There is nearly always an advert on the television or in the newspapers / computer magazines. I may try Amd in the future though, as it seems to be becoming more popular nowadays and is very cheap in price compared to some of the intels. I'd imagine that both of the processors have their advantages and disadvantages.

well AMD has rissen to fame and fortune quite fast. Once they were cheap processors (still good tho) in cheap pc bundles, . . . now their right ontop in-terms of power and value, beating almost every equivelant intel chip. Its not to say intel arn't good. . .. jsut that AMD are simpyl better at the moment generlly. Most ppl will recognise Intel as a bran before AMD, simply because Intel is far more commercial and has mroe ties and deals with cheap pc Bundle providers, which leaves AMD to the ppl who know more about pcs to see the advantages of AMD. . . . and sicne this is an internet forum its not surprising that AMD is beign voted as most popular. . . . i'm pretty sure if the same questio nwas asked o nthe street most people wouldn't even know what / Who AMD is

AMD is just the proven better processor. Since most the middle to high end AMD processors are 64-bit, they will be ready for the next generation of software. If you use an AMD Athlon 64 or higher, and you know a lot of the applications you use are available in 64-bit form, you should think about upgrading to Windows Pro XP 64-bit Edition. Suppose to really bring out the beast inside of your AMD Athlon 64 and higher. From my experiences working with P4's and Athlon 64's, the Athlons can crunch more data faster than any P4 I have seen.

well i think both processors are good, well i dont exactly know what is exactly the difference, i sue my computer for flash programming purposes and well my celeron procesor has been a good allied in this. My doubt is what makes AMD processors special from the rest and what makes Intel processors special from the rest?...there are many more porcessors out there...of course less known due to the popularity of Intel or AMD.. well my question is, i have a 566 MHz celeron (yep intel) processor and i have been working with no much problems at all, it never stucks or freezes the computer and it can handle the latest applications such as Maya and Swift 3D (i used it more) and of course my dearest flash 8....in contrast my brother's computer is a 2.7 GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor and being honest it stucks the computer maaaaany times, for example when opening flash applications the fan starts going faster and then a blue screen appears saying something about the HD, i personally hate that computer behavior.... and i havent tried any pc with AMD processor but if someone can answer my doubt if it stucks or something... if it does... well i think i will need another choice before buying a computer with certain processor

Try Mac Os X Tiger In Your Intel Machine
About using Mac OS X on intel machines and even AMD (3) Mac OS X Tiger on Intel Machines Mac OS X is best know for its UI and simple to use

the OS X 86 on your machine and then apply the patches later. Applying patches manuall....
Intel Targets 32-core Processors In 2010.
Intel Develops Processors with 32 Cores (2) I've found an interesting article about new Intel CPU for servers. QUOTE The processor
code-named Gulftown will have “eight processing nodes” with four cores on each one, according to TG
Daily web-site, which may mean that the chip will consist of several physical dice. Every die will
sport four processing engines, 3MB unified level-three cache, while every core will have 512KB L2
cache. The dice will be connected to each other using “a ring architecture” interconnect technology.
Intel already reportedly has project named Keifer, which is focused around many-co....

amazing!!!!, also Amd said that making fastest processors is becoming pretty
trivial, BUT the problem is: Where the hell they are going to put so many transistors? And the heat
produced?: simple, not putting them together, (as they came doing until now ), otherwise, they are
going to put them splitted, two blocks, each one have 2 cores ( 2 * 2 = 4) And the h....

Intel Changing Logo
(0) QUOTE Intel said Thursday that it would scrap its 37-year-old logo as part of a major rebranding
that will emphasize the chipmaker's shift away from its core PC business into consumer products.
The original Intel logo featuring a lowered "e" will be replaced with one showing an oval swirl
surrounding the company's name. The phrase "Leap ahead" will supplant "Intel inside," which
helped bring the company into the public awareness during the PC boom of the 1990s. The new Yonah
mobile chips will also be called core, instead of Pentium M, and be designated ....

Apple Expected To Change To Intel
(8) It appears that Apple plans to use Intel chips instead of PowerPC chips in its new computers. This
could prove to be a very risky move by the company since all the programs and software would have to
be changed to work with the new computers using Intel and those left with the old PowerPC apples are
not going to be very happy. It's going to be interesting to see how the hardcore Mac users are
going to react to this move by Apple and many are probably going to leave Apple for good. I am
just glad I am not a Mac user or else this move would prove to be a very big h....
