Amd - Very Noicy?

I want to repeat that AMD Processors DO NOT make any noise, the noise issue is related to fast coolers that are required to cool down the core. So I would suggest that you should buy a water cooling system or a good silence cooler, for example something from "cool breathe" series.

I have an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ one of the fastest in the Athlon XP range, it is VERY quites, well, as we all know, processors dont make any noise (unless they burn out wink.gif) I have a large heatsink with a fan on it, i have a fan to the side of the case blowing air in, and i have two less powerfull fans at the back sucking air out, supprisingly, my computer is quite quiet, some reasons why:
a) the case does not touch my desk sirectly, it is raised with soft pads (to absorb vibrations)
cool.gif theinside of the case is lined with speacial foam, to absorb noise and vibration. the only thing that makes the noise are the hard drives, and the silent whir of the fans smile.gif

I KNOW that the processor doesn't make any noise, but the startard AMD fan is for some reason more noisy than the Pentium one...

Someone said that AMD increase the heat faster than other processors... Is that why the fan have to be faster or something like that, and be more noisy?

I've checked 11 computers now (friends), 5 with AMD and 6 with pentium. The AMD ones are very noisy! None of the computers had upgraded hardware...

After seeing 7 "noicy"s, I thought you should look at this: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=noisy

Anyway, I recently switched from a Pentium to an AMD, and I've noticed the that the AMD is a lot louder than the Pentium. I don't think it's the processor though because the processor is just a chip. Maybe it's because all AMDs come with bad fans which make you think that AMDs are louder. :-/

Yay someone who agree that AMD fans are louder (<--smile.gif), now we could discuss the reason... tongue.gif

Yes, as stated, the fans sued to cool the processor and case are noisey not the processor.
I have an AMD athlon 64 4000+ and it can get really hot. 30-38 idle, 35-46 working and 44-58 gamming.
Because of this i have many fans on my case, but the loudest is the Heatsink fan, which is quite noisey, altho i can turn them down when i'm working as i only really need them while gamming.
I would advise water cooling if noise really bothers you.
I am considering water cooling myself, but don't know what to do at all, so i doubvt i will ever get it done lol

AMD cores get much hotter than intels as AMD's are already overclocked when you get them, Meaning the fans need to go faster to cool the, meaning more noise.

I too have an amd and intel in the past ... i personally think that amd is much hotter and noisier ... but amd is cheaper and what do you expectfrom it ...

AMD processors are already overclocked if you buy it from some manufacturers, such as Alienware. Regular AMD processors aren't overclocked! All of the overclocking is done on the motherboard from the BIOS, therefore, the CMOS contains the information about how much the processor is overclocked, not the processor itself.

AMD Fans are maybe more noisy because most people buy AMD processors in the "box" edition (edition that comes with a cooler). I didn't buy a "box" edition processor, and it's allot quieter than my friend's Intel processor cooler!

Coolers are vital components of the PC, and buying really cheap ones for your PC is not a good choice! For a few dollars you can get a much more powerful and much quieter cooler!
