| | Ok so your happily posting and you hit the post button too many times because your internet is slow. We can't delete our own posts so we have to let a mod know. Or you want to add to your post. I personally think this is kind of a good idea because it will help the forums run more smothely if people can edit or delete their posts. What do you guys think? |

Yeah, I think two features that would be cool are deleting our own posts and editing them. It's still okay as it is; it would just make things easier.

please refer to this thread: http://www.trap17.com/forums/edit-button-t8667.htmlanyway, the short of it, editing and deleting topics/posts is delegated to admins/moderators at this point. why? because we have the hosting credits system in place, which needs to be adjusted for instances of deletion and editing. the edit and delete buttons were removed due to abuse of some members before with regards to the hosting credits system.

Yeah because of the credit system it would be just chaos...what would happen if mods edited your post because of something they didnt want to be said from you, and you kept editing it back into your post...I do think, though, that those with a good history of posting should be granted certain extra previledges, etc. editing own posts??? Who knows, but for now, take your time when posting and make sure everything is ready before you post...

QUOTE(elevenmil @ Jun 17 2005, 11:45 PM) but for now, take your time when posting and make sure everything is ready before you post... Well said! Besides the loophole and editing one's own words to cover the tracks, when there isn't a room to make mistakes one tends to be on extra alert stage. If there was a button to make one's mistake go away this forum will be full of sloppy, incoherent first draft postings. So the responsibility of making this forum nice and strong is shared between admins/mods and members (and not sliding to just one side) when everyone is making a conscious effort to make the first post good each and every time.

Yeah I would agree that editing own post is a great tool.. Nut I've seen an article somewhere that states the problem where people abuse the system by editing and editing again and again to get more hosting credits... Well, if thats the case, then might as well remove that edit feature.. Anyway our posts will still be posted.. But sometimes is su*x... There was once where I need to post some latest technologies in this forum.. I copied a paragraph from the source and pasted in my post... Guess what, I forgotten to Quote it... And worst still, I couldn't edit my post already.. Few minutes later, my post was deleted and I was given a warn attribute for copying materials... I don't intend to.. but I got no choice.. Well, maybe I just got to be careful everytime I post...

The main problem is, that people could make a huge long post (with random characters) and edit it back to some thing like "thanks"... the hosting credit system would record only the first post (the long random one)... hence, it is abused...

Although I admit I have no idea how the 'hosting credit system' works, could it not be possible to work it in with users editing posts. For example, if a user edits his post by deleting parts of the post, they have the corresponding difference of post length taken off their hosting credits. This could also be scaled so that if the post length has only changed slightly [eg. fixing typographical errors] that there is no penalty of points, whereas if a user tries to 'cheat the system' by making wholesale changes [as Dooga mentions above], there could be a greater penalty added. On the other hand, if a user wishes to add more infornation to a post, to avoid abuse, there would be no change their hosting credits. Pros:Users can edit their own posts and will not get any benefit of hosting credits. Will create a much nicer looking board without double posts or moderator notices. Cons:Having no knowledge of the workings of the credits system, this idea could be difficult to implement. I have 'tinkered around' with previous versions of Invision, and would gladly help if required.

Yes, it would be a good idea to have an edit and delete button. But like what everyone else said, it'd be complicated to work out with the credits calculator, and I'm guessing it's hard to code ^__^;;; but, not many of us make that many mistakes in our posts, ne? Well... at least... I don't...

Ability For Non-hosted Members To Award Credits.
(11) As I already mentioned in the other topic, OpaQue has resolved one of the two reasons I am still
hosted, but he has yet to address the second. I would love it if non-hosted members are able to
award credits. Now I understand why it is disabled, because they gain credits faster than hosted
members, but you could put some kind of conversion tax on it so it balances out. I wouldn't
mind. I just feel like I'm wasting a credit a day on nothing. The only reason I still have my
site is so I can give out credits /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D....
Proper English Within Posts
(32) Mistakes happen. In the fury of writing long-winded posts (or short, meaningless drivel) it's
often easy to misspell a word here or there, or overlook a typo. I have no problem with that, nor
with taking a little artistic license to spice up the post if it adds some intrinsic value to the
thread. But lately, I've noticed some folks going out of their way to deliberately misspell
common words and butcher the English language beyond recognition. To cite a recent example, one
poster found it appropriate to spell "anyways" (which is not a real word, anyway ) as "A....

Some Forum Mods That Should Be Considered For Installation
(3) Well I thought I take another crack at this topic now that 2.3 is a stabled Version of IPB. After
combing through invisionize for mods I came up with a list and reason why they should be installed
here on the forums. SOTW Mod With this mod it would help spruce up participation for those who

I Think Avatars/image Signatures Should Be Necessary.
Or at least just for Hosted members. (14) I'm always annoyed on forums, by people who don't have avatars or images in their signature
to identify themselves. Topics with rows after rows of people talking with nothing but their
name's to identify themselves gets abit tiresome. Maybe it's because I've become lazy,
but the only real forum members I can remember are ones with distinguishing avatars/sigs. The rest
are just a blur of random names- even if they have over 500 posts. That's why I think it should
be necessary for HOSTED members to have avatars/sigs. Just an idea. /wink.gif" style=....
Delete Posts?
(5) I really hope this is not on the forums anywhere but I did check. Why can we not Delete any of our
posts? Like in one case a member accidently double posted. I wish there was a feature that allowed
us to delete any posts that we make. I know nothing of how to do this but I know some things. Lets
sat I wanted to delete this post. After I deleted my Posts Count would go down and credits would be
deducted for exactly how many I earned in this posts. We are allowed to edit and change a few things
to out posts but I think we need more editing ability with our own posts. An....
A "save As Draft" Button
saving your topics or posts for later editing (13) i realized while typing earlier i had the urge to find a "save as draft" button. i guess i was so
fixated with my blog. but anyway, my point is what if the forum was to include this feature so
whatever you write, you could save them for posting later on. i was thinking maybe some people would
have some stuff to do and they have to shut down the computer (not everyone can leave their computer
on, and that would be a waste of energy), but they have already written their topics/posts.
moreover, some people would have second thoughts in posting their topics so they could sav....

Delete Accounts For Being Inactive
(5) Well I was just looking at this profile and this user has been inactive for a long time. Why
don't Admin delete these accounts. He has one post and it was closed for already been posted.
Why don't they delete these accounts. It makes me kind of mad that some people go on Trap17 and
leave it here to rot. Does it take up space to make a account on Trap17. Like lets say Trap had 100%
Space And then Someone registered then they had like 99%.(That is the best I can explain it.) So I
say that you guys go threw all the Members and delete the ones that are not coming bac....
Control Panel: Current Subscriptions
Sort by new posts (0) I don't know about you guys, but I find the current subscriptions page
(http://www.trap17.com/forums/view-topic-subscriptions.html) one of the most useful features of this

be sorted into two sections: one for new posts (at the top) and the other for topics without any new
replies. 2) Make the topic subscriptions page be the default destination when you click the 'My

Donations To Trap17

I'm very pleased with Trap17 I want to donate a small amount of money (what I can spare). As a

still be over 190$. It would be great if the admin could open some donation accounts a....

A Suggestion To All Mods And Admins.
A suggestion. (13) Hey guys. As some of the mods may know (Jlhaslip and Mayank among others), I report a fair amount
of posts and users. And I have a suggestion, since this is how I find this stuff. If you see a new
member with under 75 posts, that has posted a topic UNDER 50-70 characters, you need to review all
of his posts. I have caught three members within two days by doing this. And I will continue to do
this. The reason is these people tend to have the nasty habit of posting consistently short posts.
And although it may seem innocent on some of the short topic posts, I soon f....

How To Sustain Hosting Credits
A guide for the members (19) I sometimes see trap17 members complaining about spending hours a day in an attempt to sustain
hosting credits. This is especially true in the reviews. It really isn't that hard. Here's
my advice on doing so efficiently. 1. The number of posts you make at trap17 doesn't determine
how many credits you receive. The staff even announced it, and it should be quite obvious, really.
Credits are determined by the content and quality of your posts. Make longer ones, I guess. 2. So
how do I sustain a nifty amount of credits? First, set a time you can post at trap17 ....

Trap17 Suggestions
a button and topsites 4 trap17 members (5) I have some good Ideas. I think we should have a button on the top of the forums that brings you

good free ones out there, and I think it would be amazing. Think of how we would think of other
members? Joining would be optional. It would iclude the top 10 and baners for them in a nice little

Posts
Higher Value (12) I think that when people post, it should give them more credit days than it currently does. It takes
a long time to make replies and new posts to some people like myself who don't type very fast,
and to constantly be active to make sure that there are enough days remaining is a lot of time and
work, considering people could get a paid site for around $3 or $4 a month. The cost is
very cheap, and not all of the features that this site offers is necessarily used by everyone. I

Edit Post Feature
(1) I think trap17 should get an edit post feature, it'll limit the number of spamming. When I mean
