I've had my laptop since October of 2004 and I've had some heat related crashes ever since the beginning, but the crashes were few and far between, never bothered me too much and a cooling pad seemed to take care of the problem. Unfortunatelty, this summer I am living in a rather hot room and the crashes came back with a vengence, 2, 3 or more times a day, depending on what I am doing. I have done a lot of reserach and tried pretty much everything from reinstalling to replacing the thermal paste on the cpu. Nothing helped, but I noticed that neither gpu or cpu intensiv tasks seemed to influence the crashes, rather anything using up a lot of Ram seem to accelerate the crashes. (I do a lot of ram-intensive stuff as graphic design student) So I decided to remove the keyboard (using a USB keyboard instead) and RAM cover to see if it made any difference... and yes it did. i did not completely resolve the crashes but a small hand-fan aimed at the ram chips is taking care of it for now and I haven't had a crash since. Of course this is not a good solution: the hand fan is cooling the ram chips instead of myself, my desktop pc doesn't have a keyboard and I can't take the laptop anywhere. Does anybody have any idea on how I can possibly cool the ram chips (I got 2 Apacer 512 MB blocks) without unmounting the keyboard? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think you should contact your support they will definitely know what to do. If you already did this try putting another fan that's what I did with my desktop PC, but I don't think this is possible for laptops. I have a toshiba laptop that has 2 fans, it rarely crash. I think you should sell yo ur laptop And buy one with a double fan. Hope you luck on cooling your LaP.

You are right there Hadi. One funny thing about laptops is that you cant add any other fans for extra cooling. My Desktop was once overheating cos there was not enough air ventilation within the case. The poblem then was that the computer was carrying so many drives that the internal cooling fans which came with the case couldnt withstand the heeting in there. There was 3 HDDs (80GB x2 + 40GB All Seagate Barracudas) plus one DVD-RW drive and 2 CD-RW drives. And apart from that, I am using an nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128MB w/TV out. Its GPU heats up real badly during game play and then, I also clocked my 2.40 GHz MMX Processor to 3.20 GHz. All these were too much for the fans. I solved my problem by first getting a small cooling fan for the Graphics card's GPU. That settled itsd overheating. Then I changed the case altogether another type which has more internal fans and a very good ventilation system. That solved my problem and since then, I havent ever excperienced the overheating again. Like Hadi said, I would say that you should try and sell your laptop and buy another one with more ventilation and moe cooling fans too.

Geforce Fx 5200 Problems
My monitor goes blank right as the Windows Welcome screen should appre (5) I hadn't been able to play the Sims 2, and I figured out it was because my video card wasn't
supported. So I went out and picked up a cheap GeForce FX 5200 ($50) and installed it in my

Nvidia Geforce 6200 Rendering Problems
(5) This has been an issue for many years now but it has really started to bother me as of late.
Whenever I play any game, after about 30-40 minutes, the rendering of the graphics start to have
problems. At times there are black patches, pointed edges sticking out of the screen's display

Dell Computer Problems Need Help.
(6) Ok i have recieved as a present my uncles dell latitude x1 laptop. Its Operating system ahs been re
installed and it worked for the first few hours i had it but then it started randomly locking up and

Trying To Install Windows Xp And Have Problems

5.1 Sound System Problems
Need help... (6) I have a 5.1 Sound System. It works great in 2 channels but when I switch to 5.1 the subwoofer
ain't working. My motherboard has a nvidia 4 ultra chipset so it supports 5.1 configuration.
Also in nvidia mixer when I use sound test everything is great and I can hear the subwooofer working
as is should. But when I want to watch a movie or listen to music the subwoofer is as good as dead.
Can somebody help me? ....
Problems At Boot Time
(11) After installing a new 2.8 GHZ P4 my computer will not boot. All fans spin but no POST. Another
interesting fact is that my CD-ROM will not power up either (works on my old 333mhz system though).
Reading around I've learned that the problem is either: 1)mother board 2)CPU 3)PSU I have tried
it with a brand new MB but no success, still no POST. Is it possible that my cheap 425watt PSU will
not generate enough power for this new CPU (even though it successfully powered my 2GHZ celeron)?
Unfortunately, the pins on the older Celeron got bent so I cannot test with this....
Problems With Lg Dvd/cd-rw Combo
...not reading burned DVDs (2) I have a strange problem and I hope some of you can help me solve it. Not long ago I made some
backup DVDs of my work. I made them at my friends, because I don't have a DVD writer. When I
try to open them in my computer, I have major problems. Sometimes it works, but mostly it
doesn't. My DVD/cd-rw combo unit from LG reads it as blank cd. It is strange, because sometimes
I get lucky and all the content of DVD is there and I can use it. But this happens after many
repetations of eject - go in - eject - ... Does anybody have a more stable and permanent solution....
Modem Problems
anyone have fault with the 5699b? (4) I recently purchaced a USR 5699b and had very bad results, I then exchanged it for another 5699b,
and had even worse results, for example I actualy make a connection about 50% of the time, but of
that the liklyhood of the connection working is quite slim. Here is a screenshot of a ping
google.com -t that I ran, before, during and after a connection: How come it can make a
successful connection twice, and then not be able to make the connection anymore? and this
isn't a one time thing, as you can tell by the scroll bar, I have been running the ping for

Gfx Card Problems!
It just uninstalled itself! (7) Today, I turned my computer on like any other days... When the "log-on" window had problems with
the loading, I understood immediately that my GFX card had problems. When my computer had loaded
everything, I checked my screen properties... Even if the resolution was normal (but the screen was
too much on the right), it showed that my resolution was set to 480x640, and the colors was on 8
bits. (but the screen had the normal resolution (1280x1024) and the colors was on 32 bits!) I
clicked cancel, and then my screen was set to 480x640. strange... Well, I turned it ba....

Windows Xp Has Failed Me...
OEM disk problems... (13) there were major problems with my computer (reasons don't matter) and i couldn't reformat it
the right way... (by popping in the xp disk). so i put it in another computer as a secondary drive
in a different computer, and it was successful. those of you who are experienced with OEM disks
