Adventure Quest Tip: "farming" For Z-tokens - Average 75 Z-Tokens an hour for a high-level player

NigaiAmaiYume
Players of Adventure Quest know that Z-Tokens are a rare currency that can be used to purchase impressive equipment and other bonuses for this on-line RGP. Mostly a means of rewarding donations that keep this mostly-free game running, they are also rewarded on a rare basis for normal battles.

NOTE: All information from here is suggested for Level 70 and up, when I started farming regularly. I have not yet had a chance to test this method for a lower level character, nor have found any information related to my specific area to extrapolate from. Any findings you can provide would be most helpful!

Morality Rant! {*mr*}

This post is NOT intended to undermine paying for Z-Tokens (One of the reasons I refuse to put it up on the official forums, where the vast majority of players seem to just want everything given to them free, NOW!).

Let me say right now: Support Atrix Entertainment if you want the game to continue!

Besides, the best equipment runs for 4000 or more Z-Tokens, and this tip averages 75 Z-Tokens an hour of constant farming. If you want the Frost Elf Attack spell or the Gatekeeper armor, be willing to pay up. If you want extra storage slots (200 Z-Tokens each) or a Tiki Hut (1000 Z-Tokens) and want to maximize your chances of getting Z-Tokens while you're farming anyway, then I may be able to help you.

Z-Tokens {*zt*}

Let's look at the elusive Z-Token:

- Personal experience has suggested that higher-level monsters have either a greater chance of rewarding Z-Tokens or reward more in a single instance. I haven't found anything official from Atrix Entertainment Staff to confirm this finding, although it has been also been noted by players in the forums.
- Pure probability states that the more battles you fight, the greater the chance that at least some will reward Z-Tokens. Faster battles means you can get more chances in a set length of time.

So, ideally, one would want to defeat a high-level monster quickly and repeatedly to maximize your chances of being rewarded Z-Tokens.

I have found an area that not only suits these conditions nicely, but also allows for indefinite farming (until you reach both the gold and experience caps, which also stop your chances of getting Z-Tokens.). The downside is it takes a fair bit of work to get to...

Where am I talking about? The Were-King's Den of Nightbane's Fortress Quest.

NightBane’s Fortress

To get there from BattleOn (The home town), got to The Travel Map, then Darkovia Forest, the NightBane's Fortress.

Once inside, you are greeted by Vampire Hunter E. There are a series of dialogue buttons, all overlapping, which can be quickly clicked to continue.

You are given the choice to pick up the Temporary Darklaw blade, for either Adventurers or Guardians. I recommend taking the best blade you can; since it is strong against all the enemies you will encounter despite their different elemental vulnerabilities, it makes progressing through the Fortress faster and easier.

You also have the option of taking E, Vampire Slayer as a Guest. He is also useful against the various monsters, and has a 100% attack rate, so he may be useful if you don't usually use the Guest slot. Experiment to see how he matches your farming style.

Within the Fortress, you randomly encounter various half-dragon, half-werewolf and/or half-vampire monsters. The following will give you an idea of what to expect:

NightBane’s Fortress Monster List {*fm*}

(Note: These lists are based upon personal observation, and may not be 100% correct).

Level 70+ you may encounter:
Alpha Draco Wolf (Both Level 66 and Level 99)
Dracovamp (Level 55)
Dracovamp Lord (Both Level 66 and Level 99)
Dracovampiress (Level 88)
Dracowolf (Level 55)
Nightraider (Level 70)
WereDragon (Level 70)

Level 85+ you may encounter:
Alpha Draco Wolf (Level 99)
Dracovamp Lord (Level 99)
Nightraider (Level 100)
Syphon Dracovampiress (Level 88)
WereDragon (Level 100)

These monsters are dangerous, even with the frequent full heals provided throughout the fortress. Until you get used to the area, focus on staying alive rather than speed - the area you're going to farm is still ahead, remember, and of no use if you don't GET to it. Be ESPECIALLY careful of the Alpha Draco Wolves and the Dracovamp Lords. As a mage with high MP, I prefer the slow but safe method of the DragonSlayer class's Freeze DragonKind ability, coupled with fire guests and pets, to cause damage while preventing the monster from attacking. [http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=7512955]These guides has alternate strategies that should help you survive their brutal might until you develop your own methods.

Which brings us to…

NightBane’s Fortress Equipment Recommendations {*fe*}

- DragonSlayer and Paladin classes, and variant armors. The Fortress is filled with the monsters the two are MADE to fight, and since the Darklaw triggers elements it overrides the Paladin's Holy Light and Holy Might to Fire against Werewolves, cutting all monsters down fast if you're a Guardian. Vampire Slayer can also be useful, although it is less effective compare to a fully-realized Paladin in my opinion.

- Darklaw blades. See above for more information.

- DragonSlayer shield for Guardians, for obvious reasons. However, ONLY use against Were-Dragons. It doesn't trigger on anything else, and actually INCREASES some of you damage received. It's useful in the actual farming section, however.

- Since I bought the Nightmare Shield, I haven't been using anything else, and don't know what else to recommend. Any less-expensive suggestions?

NightBane’s Fortress Progression {*fp*}

- Battle, followed by a Full Heal
- Battle
- NOTE: NO Full Heal! Be sure to keep your HP and/or MP high at the end of this fight if you can, in case the next fight is an Alpha Draco Wolf!

- Text Balloons, all overlapping so easy to clear.

- Battle, followed by a Full Heal

- Text Balloons, which unfortunately move around the screen. Clear as fast as you can.

- Battle, followed by a Full Heal

- Battle, followed by a Full Heal
- Battle, followed by a Full Heal

- Text Balloons, all overlapping

- Battle, followed by a Full Heal
- Battle, followed by a Full Heal
- Battle

- Text Balloons

At this point, choose the option to RETREAT. For one thing, you want to get to the Were-King's Den. For another, if you continue you will only have to do more Battles until you get the option a second time. NOT retreating at this point freezes the game!!! (Annoying, huh?)

You are now ready to farm Damfeldork the Were-Dragon!

Damfeldork the Were-Dragon {*dw*}

If you're Level 70 or above, he will be Level 80, a good and high number for Z-Token chances. I've seen him give between 2 and 7 Z-Tokens when beaten, as well. Despite this level, however, he only has 200 HP, and can be easily killed with one super-strong attack. And, at the beginning of each fight, you are given a full heal, meaning you can spend as much MP as you can to DO that super attack. If you do this right, the most time you're going to be waiting is the loading screens.

Farming Damfeldork {*fd*}

- Click the "Were-King's Den" button (Left of screen).
- Click the one balloon (Left of screen).
- Get Full Heal, possibly be attacked (approximately 200 HP).
- If necessary, change your equipment. See below for recommendations.
- Perform a strong Fire-based attack.
- Ideally, wait for the Experience and Gold scroll to load, then click Next. Double click in case you got Z-Tokens and are just trying to farm quickly.
- Click the nine overlapping balloons (Right of screen).
- Repeat.

Because of the Full Heal and the fact you return to the location choosing screen, you can farm this area indefinitely, as promised. It’s also SO simple, you can reduce your window to only as much as you need to click the balloons, tuck it in a corner of your screen, and go about any other computer task you want. Here’s me farming while writing this post in Microsoft Word AND keeping an eye on Shout, for example. Just click all the buttons you can at once, do something while things load, go back to attack, then wait for the Experience Scroll to finish loading and repeat. ^-^

Recommended Equipment and Attacks for Damfeldork {*de*}

- Paladin armor or Guardian variant for the Holy Light and/or Holy Might ability. As an added bonus, this charges the Lay On Hands ability if you want to do a difficult quest afterwards!

- Necromancer armor or Guardian variant for the Undead Mutant ability.

- Just about any armor and a strong fire spell such as FireBall Z (Level 65) or Frost Elf Attack

- DragonSlayer and Dragon Strike to charge the Call Forth the Fire Dragon if you’re going to do quests later.

Other Equipment:

- DragonSlayer shield if you have it, for the extra damage.

- Fast Fire Pets and Guests are actually useful in this farm. Your goal is to defeat Damfeldork in one hit; if leave him with a few HP, they can finish him off and prevent wasting time by having to attack again. If you do kill him in one hit, they won’t have to attack, and no time is lost anyway.
- I like the Dragon/Tiger combo from the BeastMaster Class’s Beast Mastery ability for the elemental alignment and quick animation, as seen in the above screen cap. Daimyo’s just there to be cute. ^-^

Average Rewards {*ar*}

The following is an average of five hours of farming Damfeldork. These averages are actually LOW because I was charging abilities at the beginning and multitasking throughout. Dedicated farming should have slightly more battles per hour, and therefore more Experience, Gold, and hopefully Z-Tokens.

Experience: 343320
Gold: 257490
Z-Tokens: 79
Total Battles: 86

Note: X-Guardians receive 10% more Experience and Gold.

Pros and Cons {*pc*}

Pros of this Farm:

- Once started, super simple to farm. Can even do it as a secondary task to anything else.
- Good chance of Z-Tokens.
- Fairly good Gold farm.
- Can be used to charge the Paladin’s Lay On Hands ability and the DragonSlayer’s CFtFD ability with only slight decrease to efficiency.

Cons of this Farm:

- Takes a lot of effort to get to area.
- Not very good Experience farm.
- Requires a lot of time farming time to be most effective.

Well, I hope this will prove useful to people trying to supplement their Z-Token while farming in Adventure Quest! Battle On!

Question regarding z-tokens
Adventure Quest Tip: "farming" For Z-tokens

I read your description above about z-tokens and was wondering why not go to the crossroads and take the Northlands Road. You will always get z-Tokens from 4 if you beat a minor level monster to 9 at the end when you beat a minor monster with a few more hit points. I am a level 75 so I beat most of them with one blow. It takes from 1 to 6 minutes to get your z-tokens from 4 to 9 so on an average, that is 6 z-tokens every 4 minutes which comes to about 85 z-tokens per hour. Probably even low level players can do the same though it may take them longer to fight. You mentioned above that you got 79 Z-Tokens in 5 hours so I thought I would pass this along. This is very boring doing it this way and also, I do not kill the last monster even though you get z-tokens for killing him because the star changes color on the sign that says Northlands each time you complete the challenge and I don't know if it closes off after you beat it so many times. Out of curiosity, would you know if a player beats the Northlands to many times, does it close down so you can't play it anymore and loose access to a lot of z-tokens for farming?

Not bad but the knight quest yields more
Adventure Quest Tip: "farming" For Z-tokens

Complete the knights training to level ten (in the Inn) and once you've done this repeat the final quest - three red knights and then tyranna.  I'm reaping at about 120k xp and 60k gold (and.B I'm an x guardian so multiple by 10/11 for c. 110k xp and 54k gold).

I can do this through because of a few things.  You'll need a light of ice weapon, and lavistria's bow is perfect for it's high speed animation and 100% special attach.  Use ironthorn shield, a must for farming.  Don't use pets, they slow things down.

The big advantage of this farm is that it requires minimal concentration and mouse movement - I can watch tv with almost 100% attention and reap my xp and gold caps in less than 4 hours (this is great as the xp/gold ratio is the same as the cap ratio so you're approaching both your caps at the same time).

I love it.  Anyone know anything better that allows me to multitask, let me know

not any more
Adventure Quest Tip: "farming" For Z-tokens

I'm a level 80 player and have spent the last 6 hours using your system and not a single z token. I think the good folks at battelon caught on to this farming technique and put an end to it.

Well i don't want to be an *bottom* or anything, you got a nice guide and all that but i played this game for about 3 years 5 months 7 days 22 hours 18 minutes(aqstats.com xD) now (had my breaks but never stopped reading about it) and i'm sure that there is no way you can find a place for better tokens drop :| I'm 100% sure

Best way to get high amounts is get your hands on a house (the best house out there) and wait till the sellback of the house is high enough so you can sell it and buy the next house do this till you reach the best and most expensive house out there after that you can sell it and buy w/e you like.
Note - never buy upgrades for it, waste of tokens and time.

As for monster tokens drop, well the drop is random you cant find any "perfect" farming spot

Anyway the tokens is a useless currency, the only thing you need from z-token shop is the pets(some of them) and spells(again some of them) oh and some of the Misc items to.
Ubers > tokens items. ^^

What you should do is go for exp and gold not z-tokens, if you need any kind of help on your character(from just getting tips or getting a character rate) give me a PM or post in the right section(if any section is right for this things) and let me know.

EDIT - umm looking at the post date, is kinda old sorry :|

This is how I started
Adventure Quest Tip: "farming" For Z-tokens

Well, this is how I got 10,000 Z-tokens:

 1. Get enough tokens to buy a tent.
 2. Do something else like play Counter-Strike while you're waiting for the value to reach Tiki Hut.
 3. Sell your tent and grab a tiki hut.
 4. Do that really hard Dragonslayer quest you always wanted to do for a while.
 5. You've probably realized you have collected some extra Z-Tokens while you were token-dormant. Sell your hut and buy the next most expensive house.
 6. Wait a while.
 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6.

This tip works particularly well for people who buy a house and then drop A.Q. For a while (measured in months) in favor of L4D or sonething until they realize:

"hey, there was my old Guardian account with a house and the house's value goes up!"

And they return to sell their house. I got 10,000 tokens in one year.
