Hello readers and welcome to another HOW-TO article. I originally was planning on doing the CVS Disposable Camcorder Hack, but it's only 90% done. To answer questions of can it be reused?: Yes, it can. But if you want to see it in action, I'll have it out and working at the first ever Hackaday meetup on Thursday. Come on out and see how it's done or if you can't make it, I'll have it up next Tuesday for you guys.
But now we're talkin' audio. Sweet crisp sounding liquid music.coming from our iPods/DAPs of course. A lot of us are still probably using an old school tape deck and cassette adaptor to hook up our iPods to our car. However, with some modding, a few bucks, and a car of course, you can make a permanent auxilary jack for your car.
So how? Well, it's easy enough. It just depends on your stereo situation.
If you have an aftermarket head unit, it probably has a good chance of having auxilary input for your PS2, iPod, or whatever. If this is the case, read on:
You'll want to find a good spot on your dash near your stereo for the jack. Just pick up an RCA red and white audio to minijack (1/8" whatever you wanna call it). Then get a minijack extender so you now have a female minijack port to plug your iPod/Minidisc/Monkey into. Finally, get some kind of washer/bolt mechanism to lock the minijack into place. Superglue works if you're dead broke too.
Using a dremel or similar cutting tool, drill out and sand out a nice little hole for your input jack. Once done, hook everything up to your car stereo and test it to make sure it works fine. You don't want to have to keep going back in. Then, disconnect the red and white RCA ends from the head unit. Mount your minijack port properly and make sure it's secure and that you like the way it looks. No turning back now! Finally, reconnect your RCA red and white cables to the head unit, hook everything back up, and you're good to go. You can just run a basic minijack to minijack cable from the iPod into the Auxilary jack. It's now clean, crisp, and you won't have wires everywhere. You can even rig up a dock if you're good with power and how it's distributed, but thats for another rainy day.
Now. If you don't have a head unit with auxilary inputs. You have a few options still (though they're a bit trickier):
Option #1: Go out, buy a new head unit. $150 will do at Best Buy for a pretty good basic CD player w/ auxilary.
Option #2: Go all out hardcore and follow this method. It's a nice way of doing it but not all of us can solder and do the hard work.
Option #3: If your car's head unit has a seperate CD player like this guy's Toyota Corolla, then you can basically workaround the CD player to allowed a different input. In this case, an iPod. Much easier than above but not as pretty in the end.
Whichever choice you decide is yours. But by now, we should all start thinking about this considering how much we use our iPods and DAPs nowadays. Enjoy!

useful stuff (but who doesnt like to screw around everyonce in a while on a computer with cool

If you have ever wanted to sync your personal calendar to your ipod, but either dont use/have
microsoft outlook, or just dont like either of them, (like me) then there is actually a way to sync
almost any desktop calendar to your ipod using google calendar as a "stepping stone". Basically
gcal has a built in feature that will sync your desktop calendar to google... this is normally
useful if you want to be able to view your calendar anywhere you have internet and want to make
changes and have them take place on your normal calendar. but for our purposes, you want to sy....
Just saw "The Dark Knight" twice this past weekend. All I have to say is, Jack Nicholson's Joker
can't even compare to the Joker Heath Ledger did. He took Joker to a whole new bizzare and crazy
new level. I sincerely hope he gets an award for his role as the Joker. He's truly the best
Joker there ever was. If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you go out and see the movie once or
twice. You'll see what I mean. Heath Ledger was absolutely hilarious as the Joker. He certainly
can talk like the Joker and he kind of scared me a few times in the movie. Th....
Hi, I recently switched to a new motherboard ASUS P5Q. At first I liked the motherboard because of
the features it has to offer but now its a complete turn-off First thing that I noticed was Realtek
ALC1200 (thats the sound card) on this board is not allowing Jack retasking on the back panel. I
don't have any front connections since my cabinet doesn't have these. Is this a problem or
is it normal? I had Realtek audio in my other board (XFX 650i Ultra /sad.gif"

I got 3 sources for you Gamepolitics....this one takes a bit to load, but it has the full story.

hey guys, i just recently got an 8gb ipod touch and i LOOOOOOVE it! i found an excellent video
and dvd to mp4 converter, however i have just one problem with it. it allows you to convert to a
number of sizes, and i have figured out that i must choose between two of them. they are displayed
as: -ipod touch mpeg-4 wide screen (720x406) and -ipod touch mpeg-4 extra (640x480) after doing
some research, i discovered that the ipod touch's screen size is actually 640x480, however
widescreen might also look better.... so which one? does anyone know?....
Many people have been disappointed with the Zune- Microsoft's attempt at developing an iPod
killer media playing machine. I don't know too much about media players, but you would think
that if it has wifi capabilities, it should be able to go online. Well, the MS Zune lets you preview
other people's music, which you would then have to buy. I guess that the idea has some merit,
but come on? I digress. Does anyone think that the Zune will outsell the ipod this holiday season?
Some people seem to think so. With a price tag of $100 in some popular electroni....

QUOTE Imagine if you will, you have an iPod. That wasn’t too hard now was it? Now imagine
if your friend has one too and has some music you really want. The problem is you’ll have to
take your iPod to their PC connect it and transfer files onto your iPod. What potentially could go
wrong is if you end up syncing it to that PC by mistake, you’ll lose all your data. Now
imagine you’re hiking though the hills and are nowhere next to a PC, particularly your friends
PC. A company called miShare has developed a tool for just such quandaries. It....
iPod Touch QUOTE The iPod touch is an iPod portable media player designed and
marketed by Apple Inc. The device, which features a multi-touch interface, was unveiled to the
general public on September 5, 2007 as part of an event dubbed "The Beat Goes On", - an event which
featured the introduction of Cover Flow to the iPod line. The iPod touch uses 8 or 16 GB of flash
memory, costing US$299 and US$399 respectively. It also has Wi-Fi and includes Safari,
Apple's web browser. The iPod touch is the first generation of the iPod line to inc....
Yeah the iPod is way overrated in my opinion. You might consider other players which may or may not
better suit your needs as a consumer. There are some gangsta media players out there, this one in

Well first and foremost, I'll say this: I'm an iPod man. I love iPods, I have two of them in
fact, and I've done a lot of things with them like hacking them to play doom, and some other
cool stuff. 30GB is quite a bit for an mp3 player, let alone the 60GB version. So there's also
room for not only your music, photos, and videos, but your other files, because you can use it as
sort of like a flash drive. So in short, I can't get enough of my iPods. But recently I heard of
Microsoft coming out with their Mp3 player. Even though not many details have bee....

if some of you have not heard already, there is a linux for the ipod now. it allows you to a lot
more with your ipod. you can play vidoes on any ipod. like the nano. you can even run the first
person shooter called iDoom on it. linux does it again, putting commercial technology to shame.
whats nice you can swich to the normal apple firmware anytime you want. if you got an ipod try this,
its really easy to install. it will actually make your ipod worth for what you paid for it. just go

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I didn't see anywhere else for it... Ok, my girlfriend
got a 4 GB iPod Nano about a month ago. She had about 100 songs on it and one day they just
disappeared. Her normal PC won't recognize that she has the iPod plugged in, and her
stepdad's laptop will recognize it... But after she transfers all the songs, and she unplugs the
iPod from the laptop, she loses all of her songs again... She talked to an apple guy, but they said
she needed to do a system restore on it, but they didn't tell her how... And she can't ....

This morning I was going to listen to some music, so I got my iPod, turned it on, and it reset (I
hadn't had it plugged in for a while). When I got to the music, it would go through half of a
song, then skip to the next. After doing this a couple times, it would just skip entire songs.
It'd skip six or seven, then do half of one, then skip six or seven more. Later I looked on the
internet for some ideas, so eventually I tried resetting it again, as instructed. This worked for a
little bit, but then it started skipping over songs again. I reset again, and it lost....
