don't worry about the future, you have no control of it. The only thing you can control is NOW... so enjoy, don't worry too much... it's a waste of time. anyways, here's something my friend wrote about being confused about the future. she seems pressured, and with all the opportunities, she seem to pick the wrong decisions... here it goes:

A few weeks ago I celebrated my 23rd year of existence in this world. I sensed a creepy feeling that I am in the prime of my youth and it seemed like I was drifting away from the plans I laid out. I was asked what my vision in life was. I had a hard time recalling what my vision was. I had it planned out 2 years ago. I realized that I was slowly loosing grip of my ambitions. Retrospection on how I have lived my life so far did not quite bring a satisfying feeling. Was I so focused in surviving on a day-to-day basis that I had somehow missed the bigger picture? Did I not have the energy and will to get up and get my ambition drive going? I took a good look at my job. Sure, I can handle the work easily, even if combined with pressure. I know that I can do better. But I my abilities are encapsulated in the environment I am currently in. A kind of lethargy and depression set in. I stopped taking interest, going out with my friends and generally started avoiding all company. The realization that I would have to start at rock bottom to start achieving the life I had imagined for myself scared the daylights out of me. Weeks passed by in gloom and misery. Had I hit a crisis in life? I started wondering if I am I too young for this kind of dilemma. I started feeling insecure and wondered where I am headed in the next one year or two. It gave me the jitters. As going by my inner turmoil in life, I barely knew where I was now!

The feeling persisted till it began to jar me. Being a person who cannot take self pity and weariness for long, I virtually gave myself a good mental shake and decided life is too short for this kind of perception. I mean it is good that I still have more than half my life to start out and enjoy the life that I want to live. But whatever happens to people who are struck by this thinking when they have passed their 30’s or 40’s? When they already have children and family to take care of? When it is a greater burden to turn back and start all over again? I am sure a grown up would also be in tears and wonder where he/she spent his entire life. Should I consider myself lucky that this realization hit me earlier and gave me the chance to have second innings at the game of life? Is this a blessing in disguise? Is it God’s way of telling me that I need to change and take hold of my life? If I didn’t get up and take control of my life, it will just slip away from my hand like sand. It dawned on me that it was about time that I sat down and figure out what I want before it is too late… before my youth just drifts away into the sunset.

hey! don't be confused and all. they're right! cheer up! you have "now" and that's what matters!!! as they say, you should treat each day as if its your last! but honestly, that saying is hard to apply!!! but i think being worried about the future is useless... cause what's important is now...!!! and yeah, you dont have a control to it... but you have the control right now!!! so enjoy life... its short, and we should live to the fullest!!!

Hello everyone!

If you think your life and future is uncertain and you are quite confused at times, I want to tell ya not to worry at first. Some of you have said you just have to wait for the opportunity - yes, it sounds great but when someone is waiting for unknown opportunity will he not become even more tensed? I have to agree to disagree with this idea. Definitely you will be even more confused because you do not know which one is the right opportunity.

My message is that 'Try your best in what you are doing, and take things as it comes". The problem of our lives is that we keep worrying but we don't try our best in what we are doing. 'God helps those who help themselves'. Remember that. Nothing too hard is instore for you, if it is others too are facing the same. So, take it easy, just keep moving on.

Take things as it comes do not mean that you don't have to have plans and strategies for your future, you should plan well too. But no need to worry, it only harms you. That's my view of things and life. Thanks.

All the best!

Always remember that you should go for something you enjoy. No one should force you or convince you to go into something you don't see yourself doing. On the other hand, try different career paths. You don't have to automatically change your ideal career path if you find something new, but this lets you test the waters abit. You may even find something you enjoy when you exercise this approach. However, don't let the future get you down. If you work hard and stay out of trouble, your future should turn out the way you want it to. Hard work always pays off in the end. But by the same token, don't think about the future overexcessively, because we live in the present, not in the future.

I'm pretty confused too. I'm a little scared. How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?

I've just chosen my GCSE subjects , if you know what they are, and I'm worried I might have chosen the wrong ones I haven't chosen any like humanity or whatever that word is and I'm scared you will need it in the future... it is creeping thinking that you;ll never learn those subjects again and that the knowledge you have now on history or geography will be as much as you know until your old. It creeps me out.

Anyways I've always wanted to be a person who was good at anyting any job any subject... and I hope when I grow older i will have many jobs....

I want to be like a pilot, singer/atress, computer technician , anything to do with comps, webdesign, graphic design, interior/exterior building designer, clothes designer, inventer, programmer, vet, charity helper in 3rd world countries, in the army, artist, doctor, lawyer, model(too short but i can always hope) anything basically...the list has gotten longer since last time i thought about it.
I love load sof things and I am like equal in nearly everything... i'm not boasting but i get As and A*s in most of my subjects... and only like 1 or 2 b's... So it's a bit hard to choose something because I like everything and i am a bit equal in everything.

I'm scared that if i set a high goal i wont succeed. I've always wanted to be rich as well.. but that is a bit sefish. My life at the moment isn't exactly luxery....i want my piece of it you know? See what it is like to live in a house and have a good job and a life and a good famly.

I'm so scared when it comes to my exams because im afraid that my future willdepend on them and if i do bad i'm going to fail in the future....my mum always wants me to be a well business woman and like it's all pressure onto me to keep my mum well when i'm older i don't have any brothers or sisters and my father has pissed off to somewhere and doesn't give a penny yo us.

I'm scared of basically everything.. I'm not scared of death thats what I know/
But I AM scared of dying and not knowing what the future would be like.

Aww what you want to do in life..
Here is a question for you. What are you passionate about? What little acts do you enjoy doing? What little things do you look forward to in your week?...
A hobby, a passion, an interest... You can think about what jobs you can do involving or relating to these things. I really believe that no matter what your job is, if you are truley passionate about it, you will do well.
I am in love with textiles and photography and film making and I want to have a job involving one of these things and I am always finding little oppurtunities popping up. If you put a thought out there, the universe provides smile.gif ..
Don't worry, you will realise what you want to do and maybe you need to go out and try a few things.
Good luck to you smile.gif

Hi,
I think that instead of what most people say about grabbing the oppurtunity when it passes, then that is important, but I do personally believe that your opertunity is right under your nose. There is probably something close to you that your good at. Everyone is talented at something. I want to be an Enginneer now for the British Army. Before though - I was all over the place- I didn't know what I wanted to do and all the time everything was there : - I was good at P.E - I had a physically toned body and I loved mechanical techniques etc. I think the best thing you can do is just don't bother to worry over something like this. It'll happen naturally. Just take every day at a time - don't worry about to tommorow or yesterday, today is the only day that means anything.
