I Would like to ask if tweaking with windows xp is harmless ?????? the last thing i want is being blocked out of my computer due to an error in the files.

you could always use power tools to tweak xp according to your needs, msconfig is the best option to boot faster  . HDD defrag are also a great option.

Mmmm... some times I hate XP but it's not that bad. I just stoped entering into every "interesting" site I could, stoped using iExplorer, I'm now careful woth everything I download and install, bought a PC with a better processor and got lots of RAM!! =P

When you are in MScofig, you can also remove the ones in the startup section that say System, there usually should be nothing in it if you have a new PC. Also, to make the programs in the startup list disapear, go to Run, regedit, Hkey_local_MachineSOFTWARE/Windwos/currentversion/Run and remove the registry keys that you dont need. QUOTE WARNING: Modifying the registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. I can't guarantee that problems resulting from modifications to the registry can be solved. Use the information provided at your own risk.

Windows Update
Is it really needed for me? (7) I am now running on Windows XP. I'm confused whether to use and install Windows Updates or not.
My friends and some local IT support said that I do not need them. But many tech site suggests them
to be installed. Here is my situation : I only use this PC to browse internet, download files,
using P2P software, play games and other activity that doesn't require internet. I never use
wireless internet, my PC is not linked to another PC (workgroup). Do I really need Windows Update at
all? Untill now, I never experienced any crash or something without those updates. ....

oddly poor performance (15) My windows media player 11 has seemed to have developed a problem. Well actulally it has always been
doing this. I am running a P4 (2.8GHz with 512 ram, 64MB vram), and when I try to activate the
visualization in WMP 11 all it is horribly slow and pixelized. I would guess about 5 fps Normally I
would just accept this and keep saving for a new computer but the second that there is something
covering even part of the visualization screen, it ups it's performance. If you put a separate
window over the vis screen (even the slightest corner of a window) the performance up....
