Yea quite true! I didnt even bother much about Windows Media Player and I happen to found out about this official release while I was in school going over Microsoft homepage and found it out.. Then I went on a google search and found out it was out just 2 hours ago, and then I waited till I was home and download it and then post this threads! WMP11 works pretty cool, but I cant figure out why my friend says WMP10 is better...

It's sort of funny I was thinking about this the other day but never really looked into it. I was wondering why Windows Media Player 11 had been on Beta for so long but I guess it is out after all final version. I like this version a lot especially the interface. It took me a little bit though to get used to some of the different features. Time to check out if there is any changes since Beta 2. Downloading it now.

so...was is this going to be what is pre-installed on vista? or just a preview of it? and also is this going to be what is used with the Zune? i think i may stick with 10.

Yes it will be pre-installed along with IE, I don't know of any other free Microsoft software that is being updated at lthis time. Besides Microsoft Office 2007.

Wow, I didn't notice that coming, I will have to download it at some point, probably not soon, as Media player 10 does what I want, but maybe when I get a new computer.

Cool, i have also been using the beta, now i need to download the release version and get some skins  I hope that it has got ridden of those slight bugs, some of the time it has trouble loading some songs for me, which the old Windows media player did not  Weird

Thanks for the notice, I forgot i had the Beta too lol. I already installed it and for me, it looks the same, nothing changed except for the Playlist panel (for some reason, i see it like improved).

Is that all it has? To me it seems like a waste of time to install it right now, the windows media player 9 or 10 or whichever I have does the job for me, and just for an improved playlist.... I dont think so.

I don't like the new wmp11 but it has alot to offer and the upgrades are always essential to videos.

Hi... Well, I'm so sad because I cant see plenoptic in wmp11 :8 it is in wmploc.Dll on windows\system32 directory. There two versions 9.0 and 11.0 (9 for wmp9 and 11 for wmp11 of course) if I put the version 9 instead of v11, media player refuses it... I'm trying to decompile v9 and edit v11, or merge both... I know most of you miss plenoptic too... Some helpful idea... I cannot with this :'( -question by Cygnus

I finally goyt around to installing it. My first impression: the interface is nice looking, but there are some drastic new changes. Dragging songs or double clicking an album name doesn't automatically add them to Now Playing. Usually doing that will add them to an untitled playlist. I'm still to figure out how to transfer playlists without transferring (or re-transferring) the songs it contains.

Thank God for Ubuntu (2) Greetings, all. I'm in the process of fixing my PC after a near-catastrophic failure. Things
got too hot in my case, shorting the power supply and blowing capacitors on my graphics card. Those
parts have been replaced and the PC now boots fine. However, as Windows loads, the keyboards (I
have both a PS/2 and a USB keyboard) cease to function. They work just fine up to a point, but
during the Windows loading process the lights flash on then off, and no amount of typing or
facerolling produces any output. The pair of times I managed to get it booting into Windows....

Windows Update
Is it really needed for me? (7) I am now running on Windows XP. I'm confused whether to use and install Windows Updates or not.
My friends and some local IT support said that I do not need them. But many tech site suggests them
to be installed. Here is my situation : I only use this PC to browse internet, download files,
using P2P software, play games and other activity that doesn't require internet. I never use
wireless internet, my PC is not linked to another PC (workgroup). Do I really need Windows Update at
all? Untill now, I never experienced any crash or something without those updates. ....

Windows Media Player 11 Visualization
oddly poor performance (15) My windows media player 11 has seemed to have developed a problem. Well actulally it has always been
doing this. I am running a P4 (2.8GHz with 512 ram, 64MB vram), and when I try to activate the
visualization in WMP 11 all it is horribly slow and pixelized. I would guess about 5 fps Normally I
would just accept this and keep saving for a new computer but the second that there is something
covering even part of the visualization screen, it ups it's performance. If you put a separate
window over the vis screen (even the slightest corner of a window) the performance up....
