linux is simpified version of unix...
for unix stands that's the best os in the world... unix oss are BSD series, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD..
I think the ¨real¨ unix is much better than linux i use, but, still i more like something simple, and I don´t have a time to play with one FreeBSD.
The most ¨unix like¨ linux are Slackware, Debian, and maybe Gentoo. Still, i like mandrake more than slack!!!
BSD, any flavour, makes a pretty straightforward system. If you can manage a Linux dritro, you'll manage them too. I prefer to see them on my production servers.
