Earths Daughter

| | I recently downloaded a program that didn't work. I got an error on installing it. So I tried to delete it and I couldn't. I kept getting a message about it being in use by another program. So I checked what was running, and it wasn't listed anywhere in the Task Manager. Next I did a virus scan, and ran Ad Aware, and Spybot S&D without any results. Rebooting didn't help either. I did some searching, and found out this isn't an uncommon problem with XP. It turns out the program using it was probably Windows Explorer. Rather than trying to delete it in Safe Mode, I did a little looking around, and found a neat little free utility. It's called "Move on Boot". It lets you move, delete or rename a program as Windows boots up. You just pick what program to do what to, and it does it the next time you boot up your pc. It worked like a charm.

Operating Sys Deleting
HD deletes operating sys (9)
Help! has anyone ever heard of a hard drive deleting a Operating system? I have a old HP that I had
been playing with, trying to fix it up for a friend young son to mess around with. It had no
Operating system in it to start with. I had a old hard drive laying around that had windows 98 in
it which was perfect for the old HP due to memory and being just a 286. Well, I removed the old HD
and put in the one with the 98. Booted up great. even got on the net with it for a bit, then I had
to run out for a bit so I shut it down. When I got back, I turned it back on to instal....

The Icons Of Zip Files Are Wrong Everytime!
Windows 2000 (3)
Hello! I am going crazy for a silly little thing. Please help me anyone! The icon for ZIP files
never shows the way it is supposed to. Instead it insists on displaying the Windows 'default
document' icon for ZIP files. If I rightclick a zip and choose icon properties, I can set the
icon to be fetched from the winzip executable instead, and all looks fine and dandy inside the
properties dialog, but after refreshing or repairing icon cache it is still the default document
icon that is displayed. If I try to change the icon enough times it will eventually....
Scrap Files?
(5)
First I'm not sure where this goes, but it appears to be a Windows thing, so I'll ask here.
What is a scrap file? One suddenly appeared on my desktop after I used Word, and it only contained a
line of text that I ended up getting rid of. Is it like a swap file?....
