I have created this thread to help others try to figure out when and when they should not try to sabotage. Some details may not be relevant but I am providing a complete set of information so nothing is overlooked. I don’t know if it is random or you either can sabotage or you cannot. Nisc says you need a spy bonus at least 2 times that of your opponents sentry bonus. But it might also depend on how many weapons the person has you are spying on, what kind of weapon you are trying to sabotage and relative differences in the rank. Nisc says he has also been able to spy on those 20 bellow his rank. The person I lost against is 23 bellow my rank and only has one two handed sword for my spies to try to find. So maybe there is to much working against me here.

His sentry bonus 0,
My spy rank 116,587

I would suggest that maybe he has a higher defense rank than you do and thus would catch your spies a whole lot more.

Hold up!!! i think that it told you the wrong stuff, i had 3 swords and you sabotages all of them sad.gif sad.gif and i only caught 20 of your spies or sumthin mad.gif lol

Thank you very much. I just now figured out how spying works. As long as not all saboteurs are caught some weapons may get sabotaged. Perhaps I should follow up a sabotage with a single attack to see what damage it inflicted. Now that I know a sabotage might be for naught, I must decide if it is worth the dead spies.

you know what is even more stupid? I lose spies and sentries when I attack people. In one attack, I lost a total of 25 units. 12 were attack units, 6 spies and 7 sentries. Now, my question is... why would I lose spies and sentries when doing an attack? That just doesn't make sense.

I find, the spying/sentry system is a little out of whack. Even when I have a lot less spy bonus (I had about 40k) and NilsC had about 100k sentry, I was able to see everything in his base. If the difference is that high, I think I shouldn't be able to see anything. Also, you can't hide your money because as soon as you click the persons name, it automatically shows how much money he has even if you have 0 spy bonus! That has got to go.

Well if you want to, you could probably see what would happen if you try to sabotage me and since we are on the same team then you could tell definitely what happens. I wouldn't mind really. I am pretty capable in building back up.

That does seem a little odd. If anything they should be lost during defending. But that fact that sentries can be lost may make spying less painful because if people loose sentries they may b e less inclined to keep big hordes of them.

Yes, that is true...

But I don't really know too much about spies/sentries, so I barely bother with them (except making spies to check on potential targets, of course...)

There's a common tip from the original game that never send MORE THAN 1 SPY!!! Another tip is that to observe the 25% rule which it seems that ssb is not implementing on the army system... unsure.gif

If you send one then have in trained in karate and knows how to work the 1500FPS gun he has, so no one you want alive (to interogate)gets shot and killed.

Wen I try to sabotage sum1's armoury like say 1 dagger it always you cant get away with destroying that much of an enemies armoury like every time this happens even I want to sabotage like 1 item

Perhaps the errors are cased by two threads trying to write to the database at the same time or something weird like that.

Not really...you can sit there doing -nothing- but train your spies. You'll go down in rank reaaaaallly fast, but you'll still stand a very good chance of sabbing people.
