Razr Problems - Keypad Doesn't Work

I just experienced the exact same problem with my Razor model V3m.  Currently vacationing in a very high humidity environment (~85% RH) and thought that might be part of the problem.  Taking out the battery and then replacing it seems to fix the problem, if only for an hour or so.  Also, banging the phone in my hand fixes the problem... But I don't know if this will "fix" the problem.  More likely the phone keypad is on the fritz and either needs professional repair...

Hello,
Can anyone help me? I own a Motorola Razr V3 and the only key that works is the on off button. I have never dropped it and i take excellent care of my phones. It was working fine for a few months and one day it just stopped working. The screen still works and I can awnser phone calls by opening the flip part, but I can't call anyone or text or anything that requires pushing a button unless it is to turn it on or off. I hace looked online and it seemse other people ahve had this problem but no one ever had a solution. Should I try to fix it? Should I jsut get it replaced? I don't know what to do... Someone please help me, I can't go much longer without a phone and I need to know if there is a way I can fix this. I called customer support but they had nothing to tell me. Please reply back, and thank you for caring.

well first get a hold of the people that make the phones and see if its a problem, for all you know you locked yourself out of that phone. but I would replace it though.

don't know about other people.. but my friend also had the same problem...

what he did was bang his mobile hard on his hands (just like u bang ur TV remote smile.gif )

the problem was resolved for 1 days.. but after that the keypad locked itself again... then he sent it to motorazr people and they did something and charged him USD 15 .. and the phone just worked fine...

my suggestion to u is to make some complaints and wait for them to agree to their fault.. and replace it without fee...

(i live in india just for ur information)

I don't know if it helps or not but I had a similar problem with my RAZR but in my case it was the keypad flex file I had to flash it into the phone. I found the solution here Buttons don't work I asked it in the live chat on this site and the nice expert helped me do it.

I would say replace it. My dad has a razr, and my friend too. That happened too his phone. He just replaced it.

But i would suggest getting a different phone. All razr's, at least what my dad and friend told me, have this high pitched buzzing sound, that gets really annoying.

I work for a cellular company so I might be able to help you. First of all, is it possible some form of moisture could have gotten inside of the phone? RAZRs are very sensitive to moisture and the keypad stopping to work is an indicator of this. You said you never dropped the phone which is good. Also, where do you keep the phone while it is not being used? Like a pocket or something?

I would assume he does. Like where else could he put it when he is out and not using the phone? I assume that when you say pocket you also meen bag, backpack, jacket...?

Keypad not working
Razr Problems

I have the same problem as of yesterday. We took a hike in the woods in the rain and it seems like moisture seeped through my clothing and into the phone. On top of that, I have a lock code on the phone, so when I turn it on, it asks for the lock code which I can't enter because the keypads don't work. Please help :(

Right now I have the phone sitting in front of one of those dish heaters hoping that it may help!

Replying to minimcmonkey Had same problem I replcse keypad didn't help I run the battery dead, took the sims card out charged it backup to full charge and It started working again

Poor and sudden decrease of volume on Razr. Help!!
Razr Problems

I own a silver Motorola Razr V3 and recently the sound quality during calls has dramatically decreased. I cannot hear who I am talking to because the volume of the phone is almost completely inaudible, even when I have the sound setting at its max. I can hear who I'm talking to fine when I am using my headset, or when I have it on speakerphone. I don't know what to do! I don't want to get ANOTHER phone. This is the 4th replacement of this phone I've had in 2 years. What should I do?!

Hey joeblogg.. I've had bad experiences with other phones also.. I like Motorola .. It makes pretty decent phones.. Its not as bad as Nokia whose customer support doesn't even answer calls..

And RAZR has a pretty decent Camera.. Guess you haven't seen the phones from Nokia in the same category.. That is what crap is..

NOKIA doesn't build up phones for reliability , they make phone's for cheating ppl, If it runs properly its your luck otherwise you are ought to run into bugs .. they don't even give you proper support.. and when you ask them what that is they'll probably say its a software bug and that you must have installed some third party application (this is the only reason they know)

My friend once bought a 3650. It was a symbian based phone. It only worked for 2 days and after that It didn't even power up. We tried everything .. The Customer support kept telling us that its under repair.. Finally, One of their Big Service centre (after FOUR months) said that they cannot fix it since its some motherboard related issue and offered us 60 % of the money ( price at that time in market) biggrin.gif
I personally would have killed that b*****d but my friend chose not to. He decided to switch to SE and then later switched to a motorola which is still in working condition (after 4 yrs)


Buy any Nokia phone and ask for a software update.. Atleast in My country they need around 20-30 days to do this job .. Which I guess I can do in about 20-30 minutes biggrin.gif ..

Its not like Motorola is making great phones but it does offer some decent customer support.. I had a Ming which I just sold (Although it was pretty good phone but the battery life was bad)

NEways.. The point is You can never judge a Company by the way they sell their products , Its the after sales support and the customer support that defines it..

Now Nokia has all the illiterate ppl as far as my knowledge goes.. Since they doen't even talk to you properly and they even hang up on you biggrin.gif

    Phone has very little memory i dont know how many but you can get max 1-2 full mp3 songs.... 2.
