Problem Concerning Credits Reduced - Reduced when I created a hosting account

My free web hosting account request for the second package was approved, which means that at the time of the request (the topic itself) or the topic, however you want to name it, i had something over 37 credits, positive and green of course, and when the admin actually approved the request, and we all know that exactly when we see some changes on the request topic title, for instance, the addiction of the words: "denied", "approved", et cetera.


The point is that when the admin approved today i had about 45 or 47 credits, and i created then the hosting account that only requires 30 credits right? I am right or wrong in that? From what i read, it only takes 30 credits to create the free web hosting account, 15 for the package number 1, and 30 for the package number 2, and now, after i had dinned an hour ago, i loged on to see m ycredits and i had only 1.71 positive.


Please explain this to me, does it requires much more credits to create the free web hosting account then the 30 for the package number 2? I just want to be clear on that, if you do not mind please.

Unfortunatly when you apply for hosting you credits are reset. This is mentioned in the read me for trap17. This is because non-hosted credits are not worth as much as hosted credits because when you are hosted your credits go down one per day, so it is much harder to collect credits. If your credits didn't reset then members would post a lot when not hosted and save up like 90 credits and not post again for 3 months. The whole point of a forum is to keep members active and posting.

Don't know what galexc just said, must be the long day, anyway just like when you first apply for hosting you credits get reduce and the bug follows the upgrade as well. So if you upgrade your hosting account you lose all but 2 hosting credits thus when people say they are going to the start with the ten credit but by the time they get ready to do that they have more then 30. So usually have to make up your mind what package you want to get then get the hosting credits for it, but if you plan to upgrade just get 30 credits needed then upgrade.

Thats why you need to read Trap17 Read me and other posts before posting buddy. Your credits will be
reset when you applied for hosting. So its not a problem. Its common. You may apply for hosting
as soon as you reach 30 credits if you don't want to lose more credits.

I don't think it's you. After re-reading what I posted I realized I didn't make much sense myself. It must have been because I was typing that on my iPhone in my advanced data structures class while trying to figure out why i only got a 74% on the last test, apparently my multi-tasking skills need some work...

Basically what I was trying to convey is what SM and xpress posted below me. When you apply for hosting your credits are reset to about 1 or 2 to prevent you from saving up a bunch and going a long time without posting again.

I hate to wade into this discussion again, as I know that Saint_Michael has adequately address this problem in a submission for Suggestions For Version 3 Of The Credit System. However, I do find it ironic, as with freeflashclocks example here, that it not only applies to first-time hosting accounts, but also to those who upgrade from the Hosting 1 package to Hosting 2. One thing that someone explained to me at the time that I first encountered this problem was, as galexcd said, "non-hosted credits are not worth as much as hosted credits because when you are hosted your credits go down one per day, so it is much harder to collect credits". But in the example here that was not the issue, as freeflashclocks had worked hard to earn those credits while being hosted, so this statement doesn't apply.

I do hope that they get this sorted out soon. Any such fix won't affect me, or freeflashclocks, or anyone else who has been duped by this already, but I'm sure that people (both Trap17 staff and member volunteers) are getting tired of answering for this problem.

Posters above me covered this one pretty well. The idea behind the credit system is to promote activity on the forums (I think). If you could save up 120 credits and get hosted and remain with 90 credits, you could remain inactive here for three months. This isn't activity, is it? If instead you get hosted at 30 credits and then earn 90 credits, in two months, then you will only have 30 remaining credits and you will still need to remain active.
That said, you can make 37 huge posts to last you for a year

On a similar note, this is also why only hosted members can transfer credits. Because if they could, you could send off 90 of your 120 credits and reclaim them later, effectively removing the point of the credit reduction to under five.

I may be mistaken, however I'm fairly certain that he wasn't upgrading his account, he was talking about saving up non-hosted credits and losing them all when he had his hosting approved. I only see one hosing requests in his topic history, and none of them are upgrades from plan 1 to plan 2.

Pretty yes...I never thought of this.
But I didn't understand the point of hosted credits and non-hosted credits.Whether he may be hosted or not he got those credits just by posting in our forum, and not by any other means, right? So he contributed to our forum. Then, I think, they are as valuable as hosted credits. There is nothing wrong in his worry about his credits.

Thank you all for your complete answers, it is good to know that trap17 has a good support group to help members in need for help, to help each other, i apreciate that very much, that is a plus for trap17.com website since there are other websites offering exactly the exact same service like this one with almost the exact same system, although they have not the same class, nor the same karisma, nor the same experience, nor the same finess.

Nonetheless, and concerning the real subject of this topic title, in my opinion, i think it should be inserted that information on the first page of the trap17.com/forums forums where it shoes up the credits of the member, because like that members that did not read, or that did not understand the tos/faq (could be for many reasons, i pointed 2 but i can pint you out at least more 2 reasons, logic and simple).

Think about it, i earned the credits, i could earned after i created the hosting account, did i not? but i earned the credits before, it does not matter, in my opinion.
