Parking Domains - howto on adding a purchased domain to your account here

I wrote this tutorial for astahost, but I thought I'd add it here too smile.gif
QUOTE
Since this is something we may encounter while being hosted here I thought I'd touch the subject smile.gif

First of all this tutorial/how to is written for those who have purchased a domain name through a registrar smile.gif Depending on how your registrar works, you should be able to log into your account and point the domain to trap17's nameservers.

Nameserver 1: ns1.trap17.com
Nameserver 2: ns2.trap17.com

Now that that's done, you're ready to change a few things in your trap17 cPanel. So log into your cPanel using http://your_trap17_subdomain.trap17.com/cPanel/

Then you go to Site Management -> Parked Domains

user posted image

Then you of course get the Parked Domain screen. Here you have to "add" the domain. Mind you when adding the domain, don't type the www.

user posted image

After you did this, it could take a lil while for the DNS servers to catch up (yeah, I think they're too slow LOL) and then you can use your new address smile.gif

If you also want to add subdomains, it's fairly simple as well. I do wonder how they did this without cPanel. Anyhow, since you're still in cPanel (click on home in the top right corner OR click "back" which is just below your newly added domain) you simply go to Site Management -> Subdomains. cPanel will display your_domain.astahost.com in the drop down box, but if you take a look in that wee box, you should see your new domain there smile.gif

Just select your domain and type whatever you want as subdomain.
eg. You want blog.abcdef.com as subdomain. You select abcdef.com from the drop down box and then type blog in the text box.

This will automatically create a directory with the name of your subdomain (eg. your subdomain is blog.abcdef.com then the directory will be blog) in your public_html folder smile.gif So make sure that when you upload files there, you don't mix the folders up.

I know that to some this will seem completely redundant, but I know I had to ask when I set my domain up. I didn't wanna mess things up, so I can imagine some others may have the same issues smile.gif
written originally for Astahost.*

I did change the nameservers in the quote, as obviously in the original post they were pointing to astahost's nameservers.
In case you've just created your account, the DNS servers will not be updated, thus you will have to use the IP to get to cPanel. This info is available in your account info (which you should have saved smile.gif)

If that's a redirect service such as uni.cc or no-ip.com then you don't have to set up there. Then it's all in the account manager of that service.

This tutorial only applies if you had a subdomain from trap17 (eg testuser.trap17.com) and have purchased a domain through a recognized registrar.

MARQUEE Tag Hi, I'm back with yet a second tutorial on how I created the MARQUEE tag.
It's working well - but at first it'll seem that the tag has caused your browser to freeze.
I guess depending on the different ways that IE and Mozilla Compliant Browsers parse HTML tags - the
outputs are a little different. While using FireFox, the Marquee wouldn't start scrolling till
all the page elements & the page itself has FULLY LOADED . Till then, it might seem that the
browser's on the verge of freezing. On the other hand, in IE the Marquee starts ...

myStringOrProperty = FormatNumber(3587532789053, 0) The second parameter (0) represents how many
