Any Open Source Programming Language. - Coding should be somewhat similar to VB

Dear Friends I am working in VB since last many years now. As you all know its a paid one that is you should buy a licensed version of your own to be used. We in our concern have the license version of VB 6.0. I was wandering wether their is any free to use programming language similar to VB, I want to know like many softwares which are now open source is there any front end tool which is open source and free to use and if you know one are you using one if so which one is the best.

For open source BASIC related language, you can try :

1) Lazarus
2) WxBasic

There is one more Open source port for Basic, i'll find and post that here.


Ok here is small list for you(Just for your information) if you're looking for open source programming language.

1) Processing
2) Ruby
3) Java (opnjdk)
4) Python
5) Wxwidgets
6) QT (Open source port)


There is one more coming called SMALLBASIC from microsoft which they're planning to make open(read-only) ware soon wink.gif soon.

Very nice list mahesh. I never heard WxWidgets and QT, I'll google for them and find our more.

What the heck Microsoft thinking? What is the use of an Open Source language(or any open source software) if it doesn't allow us to modify the code...I think it is opposite to the spirit of open source... mad.gif
