how do you setup an internet radio site? are there any free ones?
alisaza: yes 1.You will need to download Winamp player 2.Next.Go to Shoutcast website 3.or go directly to download page (you have all documentation here to get started) 4.You have to agree to the license (here is the direct link) 5.Now you need a plugin for winamp in order to run shoutcast server.Download it here 6.Now when you install all you nede to configure the shoutcast server Help with configuring: 1.Go to your Shoutcast directory and open sc_serv configuration file 2.Scrool down till you get to the Max users section.32 is default.If you do anything else besides streaming or you have slow connection, decrease the number of users to, say 10 3.Next go to password section and change your password 4.You are finished (the rest is optional) 5.Start the Shoutcast server and Winamp 6.In winamp load a playlist or load some mp3s you want to stream (start playing) 7.Go to Options --> Preferences and click DSP/Effect under Plugins 8.Load Nullsoft Shoutcast Source DSP plugin 9.A window pops up.Click Output tab and retype your password. 10.Click Connect button and that's it! NOTE: you may also want to lower the number of disconnect timeout to 5 or even lower.

I think it would be an interesting thing to get into if there was any way to actually make something out of it, rather than just do it for fun. Yes, I do get paid to advertise on my site, but I have recently cancelled all advertising as I gave my station a remake. I did this because their contracts all ran out, so I redesigned my station and gave them the option to sign up again.
Anyway, back to the point: go to uBroadcast and you can check that out, otherwise you can use 365Live which is a paid service.
well Crossfire-radio is always looking for a DJ, thing is they require you to have a lot of music on your system and a good hookup. ( no slow PC) they are a pretty good site too. as for starting your own? Don't. there a lot of things you have to keep in mind when starting your own IRS ( internet radio station)
one thing is royalties. they are really cracking down on stations not paying them. They FCC and the US Goverment tried last year to shut them all down do to this. Also you have to think of bandwith. Takes a ton. Latest Entries

Internet Radio MoTalk is looking for non paid broadcasters to run their own shows. Setting up a internet radio site is quite simple , all you need to do is go for a good free host like trap17 ,Upload the media which you would like to play and write some scripts which will execute the specific file in specific time , and just go on .! simple as that.
