I got enough credit to apply for hosting and I did and I got approved yesterday. So I went to activate my account at www.trap17.com/process, I filled out the form and submitted it and I got the page quoted above. The first problem is when I follow this link http://69.50.188.18/cpanel

MAN!! I know the solution to your flags but I haven't seen that problem in awhile so I don't know the topic for it. Disregard the .com for your ftp that is a typo in the email sent to you, and as for your credits your hosting account has been accepted, because you are maroon and so you should be able to to access your cpanel.

hmm the ip address could be old so use this one https://64.69.46.210:2083/cpanel. Or if you look at the top of the forum, click the Free Web Hosting Drop Down menu and log in from there.

I tried this one https://64.69.46.210:2083/cpanel and it doesnt load in my browser (Opera) or in IE. The link in the drop down menu at the top of the forum links to https://64.69.46.210:2083/ and that doesn't work either.

I went to http://www.trap17.com/process and I click on number 9 and put in my username and password and it said INVALID USERNAME AND PASSWORD!. Do you think my account never got created because of the flag errors ??

I just put my forum username in here http://www.trap17.com/process menu number 9 and I got this:

OpaQue is busy at the moment to fix typos.

To access your cpanel, it's just http://64.69.46.210/cpanel

Do not use https

Do not use port number and cpanel, i.e. http://64.69.46.210:2083/cpanel -- this port number is opened to cpanel so you're requesting two-same service, which leads to a blank page.

The suggested method of accessing your cpanel, which is stated in Trap17 Readme (refer to my signature) is:

your_domain_name.ext/cpanel

DNS will automatically resolve alpha-characters into IP address.

I can see that your Group has changed to [HOSTED] this also confirms that you are hosted correctly by Trap17.

I don't if the cpanel page is temporarily down or what is the problem.

I don't care about typos, I just want to get the hosting working.

Is there any reason why I am missing about 7 credits.

The domain name you appear to have used, omarali.us is already in use by someone else. So, you won't be able to use that to get to your hosting.

BuffaloHELP has provided the correct address to log in to cPanel: http://64.69.46.210:2082/
I have just checked it and was able to log in to my account, so it works. If you still can't access it using that address then it is possible it is a problem with your browser settings or something similar.

The reason your credits dropped from 38 to 1.45 is because your credits are reset when you accept a hosting account. No matter how many credits you had, you will always be given around 2 credits after you become hosted.

Ah... I should have known to trust my instinct...

1) does the domain name belong to you, purchased by you? Trap17 only provides free sub-domain name. You can qualify for free domain name once you become a hosting member and hosting credits at least 280.

2) I can see your default index page http://gamma.xisto.com/~omarali so the reason you may not be able to see your domain is that the domain name does not belong to you.

3) if you have Internet Explorer you must click on YES to Alert Message allowing you to view login page. Using Firefox you'll notice immediate login pop-up window. If you have a pop-up blocker or firewall preventing any secure login script you will not be able to use cpanel.

The Cpanel login page is working now, I guess at the time I was trying it was down or something which is weird because I thought trap17 was suppose to be a reliable host. I even used www.alertra.com which checks any url from different locations around the world and it confirmed that the login page was down and that the problem wasn't from my browser.

That someone else is the same person as me. As I said in my application I am moving from a different host (freehostia.com) to trap17.

Thanks for clearing that up, I wish I had applied for hosting as soon as I had reached 30 credits.

Yes, the domain name belongs to me, I purchased it and I am the one using it.

The problem wasn't seeing my domain, it was seeing the cpanel login page.

I looked at cpanel and couldn't find dns management anywhere.

As your hosting has been set up to use your domain, you will need to log in to your domain control panel (this is with your domain registrar, which appears to be GoDaddy in your case) and change the name servers to point to Trap17. The nameservers you need are:
  • ns1.trap17.com
  • ns2.trap17.com

I beleive you that trap17 is reliable, otherwise they wouldnt have all these users. But I did make sure that the problem wasnt from me by using http://www.alertra.com they check your website from different location around the world to see if it's working. btw in Cpanel it says the server last rebooted 160 days ago, so maybe there was a problem with the datacenter's network ??

acctually the closest was Modify Mail Exchanger (MX Entry) because it allows you to set the MX records for your domain. add-on domains and parked domains do not allow you to set A records or CNAME records.


This is the default setup for a trap17 account: user points domain to ns1.trap17.com and ns2.trap17.com and the dns service and email and web hosting are all hosted at trap17.

This is what I want to do: point my domain to zoneedit, from zoneedit I will point my email to google and point the webhosting to trap17. ( I already tried this and it works see omarali.us without the www, its hosted at trap17, but if you go to www.omarali.us with the www it's still hosted at previous host. The problem that arises right now is that trap17's dns server has wrong information about my domain. does anyone know how do I disable the dns part from my hosting account or at least change it?

    I posted a free hosting account request on the 27 of last month, I still haven't got a reply,
    when I go in and look at my request post I notice that EVERYONE before AND after me was at reviewed,
    and most of them accepted! Can anyone please tell me why mine seems to have been skipped!?!?
    I've been really anxious to get my website up and running on the web, but it seems i've been
    completely ignored in the process! Im starting to wonder why i'm wasting my time here!....

    I'm just saying goodbye to Trap17's free hosting service. You guys are really great all the
    times when I'm using your service. The servers was fast, disk space are decent, and no
    restriction for PHP function, and the forum is so friendly. But after the incident with the cPanel
    and the site, I decided to leave. All my forums data and blog was completely vanished. While I
    cannot access my cPanel, FTP, and of course my site, I'm terminating my account, and rebuilding

    Ok so say i want to run a glype proxy on my hosting. I downloaded and uploaded he .zip file to the
    public root file and extracted it. What to do now how will i make it work? How do i make any
    scripts or anything work? Any tutorial links is much appreciated, as i don't know how to use
    the cpanel to it's full extent and the video tutorials aren't that useful for other things.

    2 problems! a) how do i update my website??? like if i make changes to the code of say my
    index.html page, how do i make these changes take place on the website online?? /cool.gif"

    files to a file under my public_html folder but also under a folder with my user name

    I need urgent help! When i recieved my email for comfirmation of my hosting account - i went to
    trap17.com/manage/index.php. Logged in and created a hosted account. At the top of it it said "There
    were problems creating your account! Please Contact Administrator. " But i went to my website
    flashy.trap17.com and it was created. But now the only thing is my hosted credits were not set
    back to 0.00 and my group is still Members - not hosted. HELP ME PLEASE!! i dont want to get banned....
