| | Does Anyone Know Of a Good Notation Software?
I have Sibelius 3 but is way to complicated, and I don't really like the way you move the pages around, I also have Encore that one is easy to use but doesn't a lot of options. Then after you're done writting the sheet music does anyone know what program to use to make it into a Pdf file? |

i played with encore also b4. but i seem to have lost my copy of that in my bundles of CDs. didn't try others though. here's a tip for easy conversion (of any file, with PRINT function) to PDF: download JAWS PDF Creator. that's what i use. i even set it as my default "printer" so i can print web pages i like (with links if required), and read them offline. there are others similar to this, but i like this one best. just try to google for the app.

Well I finally learned how to use Sibelius, it works pretty well, but yeah I still can't make the file into a PDF file, I have Pdf Jaws and it doesn't work? it doesn't print when I use it, it shows the little printer by the clock for like to seconds and then is gone, and nothing happens it doesn't print ......

jaws pdf is probably not setup properly... here's another option (requires Adobe Distiller). http://www.espere.org/pdffile.htm

A friend of mine has made some glowing recommendations for an Open Source program called ABC. It avoids the hassles associated with a complex GUI by working instead with markup. My friend has used several other graphical notation editors and he claims that this has reduced his work and improved his experience when editing musical notation. It also has tools to automatically convert from ABC notation into MIDI Something for everyone I guess.

I have MagicScore Maestro, it's easy to use, has a clear and user-friendly interface. I use the virtual piano, it has also a guitar board. You can either connect a midi device to your computer, start playing, and it will record the notation, or place notes and then play back the sheet music. Of course, you can export you notes and print them.
