When at home, I have to use a poor pc, & sometimes I can have tons of programs open (Firefox, Thunderbird, Photoshop, itunes, msn etc), which makes life a bit slow. Photoshop & msn especially dont get on.
Anyway, i've been looking for a solution that doesnt require me buying a new pc, & I came up with this:

Its advertised as an online desktop, that works through your browser. You can upload things to your online harddisk, & pretty much use it as your normal desktop.
It comes with a built in email system which has pop3 access (you can set it to get your gmail etc), which would save me opening Thunderbird.

There is also a pretty nifty mp3 player (bye bye itunes).

you just have to upload your songs to the 1gb harddisk they give you

& although it looks a bit boring compared to the real thing, an im system that lets you login to your msn account (bye bye msn)

It'll open pdfs & word docs, which are another two programs I use a lot that I wouldnt have to open.

& has this, usless but quite pretty:

This will probably be handy for me as I use a few pcs in different offices during the week, & I will be able to shove all my work stuff on it & have access all the time wherever I am, & help at home as i'll only have to open Firefox. I guess if you have to use college/library pcs it could be handy too.
I'll keep playing with it & see how I get on. It is still in its beta stage so no doubt there will the the usual bugs, but so far it seems ok.
If you want to try it, go here.
