Desktop Vs Laptop - the ultimate debates

<p>just want to say.. .laptops vs desktop computers are just like mobility vs power.</p>

<p>we all know that laptops are best at mobility but less power (in terms of battery life) and costs much.</p>
<p>while desktop computers, have more capability to make your life easier.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>you can't say that laptop is better than desktops or vice versa. it always depends on the "you"-ser(user). because it's the satifaction that matters.</p>
<p>if your job(needs mobility), always needs to be out of the country(or out of no where <img border="0" alt="" width="17" height="17" src="/txtmngr/images/smileys/smiley4.gif" />), then I prefer that you use a laptop, I can't say "use Dell branded laptops it will suit your needs." because brand matter in terms of price, design and specs, but laptops in terms of comfortability, it usually depends(on the user). but if you need a computer for home use just use a desktop, it doesn't heat-up like laptops.</p>

ps. laptop manufacturers are trying their best to improve their products and some of their products can do what desktops can't. i think it needs more time to totally replace desktops by laptops

Hi!

I'd definitely get a notebook PC instead of a desktop. Sure, desktops are more powerful can be upgraded more easily and you can hook up a really mean video card in it, but the ease with which you can pick up your notebook PC and walk into any room or go out to the coffee shop wins me over. That, and I can take my notebook with me to class so I don't need to buy another one just to take to class.

When the workplace offers me a notebook PC, I take it around to the conference room, to a co-worker's desk for discussions and stuff. They'd be spending more in lost productivity if they gave me a desktop PC. The notebook can still run CounterStrike Source at full detail though :-P

I used to use Desktop computers and never thought of Laptop several years ago, but for some time now, when Laptops got much cheaper and much more reliable and powerful, I think most of users are choosing to get a Laptop, especially if they are not hardcore gamers, due to even though a laptop might be powerful, it is saving energy with all those speed stuff, that you usually get more speed on a Desktop..

I bought a Laptop some years ago and I'm really happy, when I go somewhere I just take it and have a small cordless laser mouse, which is very convenient lets say at work and university.. But at home 15.4 screen is to small for me, thats why I connect it to external big LCD monitor and have external keyboard and a bigger mouse, so it seems that I'm on a "Desktop" computer, even though it is portable Because my laptop only has Stereo output, I bought external sound card, my sound system is 7.1 so it's quite stupid to use only two speakers, so I really think that if it's possible, it's better to use Laptop and if it is to small for you, just buy external LCD monitor and etc.

Of course, when having a real Desktop, you can add more HDD and customize it, but it's hard to move it, as been said and having a Laptop and a Desktop, well you'll need to use two Operating Systems, so double work for you, double updates, double scanning and etc.

Well, both laptops and desktops have their pros and cons and usually that determines which way you go. Of course, it is not uncommon to have both especially if you have a job that requires you to be on the movie and yet still do work at home when given the chance. As f or the biggest pro for each is that laptop has superior mobility and desktops have superior customization and of course if you reverse those two pros they become cons as laptops are not really customizable while desktops are not really mobile.

Well, I think a desktop will be a better option as it can give a better performance, its got a good life comparatively, playing heavy games are possible on a desktop, and in less money one can get a better destop. Moreover , it is more customisable I.E. A graphics card or a pci card can be changed easily in it. So I would pefer a desktop...
