Thanks for the replies. I can see how the credit system would be confusing for those who have yet to get free hosting. I thought I remember reading that 1 credit was equal to 4-5 days though. I guess I was wrong.
Thats how the system works to keep us coming back to post!
It wont take you long to get back up to a reasonable level so just keep posting, its all you can do.
hey....
when we can use our credit to get a host? because when i try to get it my credit is reduse too? can you help me????
Hi, basically you need 10 credits for the basic hosting package or 30 credits for the more advanced package. The 30 credit package is much better as it has more webspace, more database space and more bandwidth, but both come with full support, free of course, a control panel and lots of statistics/tools to help you organize and run the website.
The Trap17 README will explain it in more detail. To get credits make good quality posts that arent copied from anywhere and your credits will rise. When you have enough go to the "request free webhosting" forum and read the Pinned topic there to find the link to use to create your request.
so i worked up to 70 credits when i only wanted 30mb hosting which is 30 credits for nothing.
That's how the system works bro, you can apply for the hosting package desired as soon as you reach the minimum amount of credits needed for that specific package. It is stated that once you become hosted your credit amount will be reseted. That is for no other reason then to prevent you from fleeing once you gain your hosted account. There is no difficulty gaining credits here, there are many topics where you can express yourself wily... have fun posting.
i will and yea i just fully read the rules.
m_spartan_w what as for the 20MB you only needed 10 credits and the 30 credits for is for the 500MB plan, so in your case you wasted a lot of credits. That is why it is recommended to read the trap 17 read me before you start posting because like I mentioned earlier people will caught by surprise that they just lost a whole bunch of credits for nothing. Also if you plan to upgrade make sure you bank all your credits except for 30 and that way you won't lose a lot a credits well. To access the bank login to www.trapy17.com/manage and you can transfer your credits into the bank in the menu.
i had 70 credits and i got hosted and i got the 30mb plan i activated it and guess what it took 68 credits of me as soon as i activated it i need help i activated it yesterday and i only got 2.8 credits left from 70 credits. That's the way it works. The hosting credit system is designed to keep members actively posting on the forums and this is one of the way it does it. Otherwise, you could make 500 credits' worth of posts, apply for hosting and not see us for a year! It is also easier to get credits when you are non-hosted as you don't get your credits reduced by 1 per day. So this also combats those who try to take advantage of the system by gaining a multitude of credits when it's easier to get them and not when it's a bit harder and when they should.
its also not that hard to get 10 credit per day. but don't just spam the boards, your answers must have content so the boards will be a little more better.

So is it best not to post much while we are waiting for our accounts to get accepted? It seems to me more logical to only subtract 30 credits (or 10 depending upon which account plan you pick) from your total amount of hosting credits. That was always the one flaw with the credit system that bothered a lot of people back when it first started out, but word has it that Version 3 of the credit script, and maybe that little problem would be fix. Of course I wouldn't mind knowing what other fun stuff will be going into that script either.
Yup, perfectly normal. As you might know 1 hosting credit = 1 day of hosting, so 365 credits is one year of hosting. to reflect this the credit system shows you in Days, rather than credits. Of course for non hosted members listing it as Days would be confusing so that's why it changes
After getting accepted for free hosting, is it normal for the credit system to change from number of hosting credits to number of days?
