I've used that I think, can't remember, was a while ago, was a demo.
tried my hand at Dark Basic Pro, no luck
what kind of games it capable to make?
QUOTE(cragllo @ May 3 2005, 01:57 PM) I've used that I think, can't remember, was a while ago, was a demo. tried my hand at Dark Basic Pro, no luck It's purpose was for every game. However, the features are not very advance on TGF so you could make platformer and other 2D and scrolling games. I doubt a 3D game will ever be created off it. (Well, a decent one)
The Games Factory is a disaster.
Its poorly written, terrible to use, no avanced coding, no multiplayer support, no extenstions... its a total mess. Really, http://www.gamemaker.nl is far easier to use, more powerful, and alot less buggier. I tried GF at first and i almost quit, until i found Game Maker, and now im making games till my Hard Drive fills up Really, if you want to try GF, try Game Maker as well....
Mmmh I don't think any of these game making programs allow you to create a professional game... You better code something yourself.
Unless you want to make a First person shooter game, you can make an excellent game modding an existing engine
Thanks for this link.. I always wanted to creat something like my game

Unless you want to make a First person shooter game, you can make an excellent game modding an existing engine I assume you havent tried famous game maker games such as Jumper 2, or Hover Tank 3d? even others. No, Game Maker has the potentional to make extremely well done adn professional games. The thing is that most people cant be bothered, dont have the time (which is an excuse, and more falls on slackness) or make an engine and need to re-script it.... and once again, slackness... QUOTE(Dregnought @ Jan 15 2006, 12:20 AM) As programmer (made my 1st program when I was 8yrs) I believe, that doing game with those Game Makers will never be so professional (ok, it depend much about programmer) as games build with C++. Game Maker etc. could be good choice to beginner without any programming knowledge, but with any knowledge there is more powerful ways to make game. With that i agree, but unless your hardcore and got plently of time, gmaker is really all you need. Also, i get the feeling that you havent visited it in a while, if tahts the case, its gotten alot better recently. Latest Entries

Visual Basic + .X file (Third Party file exported to Direct-X 3D Model file) : If Game Maker easy and C++ = Whoah...Then this one maybe on the middle! This is my dream but...Its need some patience. Its hard but not impossible (such as C++ to me Flash : Feel likes a cool guy when you make games with Flash. But, I often say this 'ActionScript! Why you doesn't work!'. And often...Your game ideas will goin bordered (Not Free. Your mind is not free and...The Flash price is not free too!). But...Its create a little proffesional game. And...Many flash games that creates a beautiful illustration. I not recommending you to make flash game, but...I recommend you to make flash game. Confused? I Knew it. But...Reason I like Flash is...You can make animation and beyond-powerpoint presentation. -reply by biyanboyz
Never ever made games before myself. I have a friend who makes 2D sorta ones so maybe he uses one of these sites. Well I'll ask him and bookmark the sites in case I want to make on if I'm bored perhaps.
Thanks for the links! the only thing I have used in a game programming was java.. but that's the first and lat game I programmed.. can anyone give me sites that I can find tutorials on game programming for C++, VC#, etc??? I suggest you look at some OpenGL books -- I believe they are relatively easier than the DirectX ones. Try "Premier Press - Beginning OpenGL Game Programming - 2004". Sorry, but I cannot post it here, though it is freely available as a torrent You can try DirectXTutorial.com as well -- it's a good source of info, though not a complete one. It's good for getting to know DX. I'm using it right now for my school game project For some easy drag-and-drop programming, you can try Delphi, with a component called "DelphiX". Haven't used it much. It is also important to know which platforms you use -- I assume Windows. That certainly means DirectX. You should also learn multithreading, if you haven't already. And I believe, C/C++ has the least bloated executable, and it is the fastest one. (i don't count assembler though Most importantly, do NOT start making games unless you have grasped most of the concepts of programming in your language. Try some challenges, too -- like TopCoder, or IOI tasks.
