Iguest, it is the second time that you say bad things about my topic, and what makes me freak out is that i know that this tool works 100% as it says, and many members over here say that it does work, the problem is the extraction, it takes hours to extract a highly compressed file with kgb archiver, I HOPE I DO NOT NEED TO REPEATE THIS IGUEST!

The zip files you downloaded, is also made by kgb archiver, which can make *.kgb files or *.zip files, but for your information, 7zip can also compress a lot, but not like kgb archiver does, it is a lot more powerfull.

Finally, and obviously, you do not have a good computer, i told already many times in this topic that you need a fast cpu and GB's of RAM, so why do you keep saying that this tool does not work, are you blind to see the other members replies, and mine too?!?!

One more thing, if you did not notice my other replies to this topic, explaining how to compress files with the kgb archiver, i will explain again, which i am tired to do it so, just for you:

Install kg archiver
open it
select the maximum compression in the configuration options, you can compress from minimum to super compressed for your information
Then depending on your computer recources, it will take hours to compress the file nonetheless, even if you have a 4 GHZ CPU AND 4 GB OF RAM.

DID YOU UNDERSTAND NOW!!!

About the text files being shrunk by a lot, any program can do that(Winrar, winzip, etc.) so that's not really very special.

I did hear years ago about a program that could supposably shrink ISO/BIN files by 95% or so but never saw actual proof of that,

Yeah, I said this once, I'll say it again: It's impossible to convert a file at least 10 times smaller, and more... no way. It might only works with text files or some blank images, but converting a game or some music won't happen. Anyway, MP3 is already a way to compress the audio... I have tried KGB Archiver and it's really not that good.

ackotheadvertiser, i have many files on my pc highly compressed with the kgb archiver, files from avi and other files formats, so i will upload the files, then you download and extract them with the kgb archiver to see what i am saying is correct and accurate.

Plus, if you was informaed, you would know that nowadays, people are sharing games, movies and other stuff in very small size zip files, created with kgb archiver, and the problem is the extraction, it takes at least 4 to 8 hours.

Besides, many members said in this topic that it works, are you saying that they are lying? If so, you have no right, to me you are a lyier, you did not even try this tool, you come here and talk about a program you did not even try, how low caracter and personality is that? I never saw people like you and a couple more here, that they clame to have computers expertize, but in the end, you do not know a thing about anything, you are just another ignorant that talks, nothing else.

Just wait untill i upload the files, then you will see, if you want of course.

This is a 12 MB file, when you extract, it is a 100 MB avi file, it has audio and video, so your theory is incorrect:

You can extract it with winzip or winrar, it is a zip file created with kgb archiver, it will extract very quickly, it is not a very compressed file.

I downloaded your example (RAR) file which is ~13 MB and got the avi to be 96 MB, I archived that avi with 7zip .7z format and again I got ~13 MB

I downloaded KGB archiver to try it out, so I took a simple mp3 audio file which is already compressed, it was ~22 MB, I tried to compress it to .kgb archive file, it did not let me use Maximum compressing method as it said I am out of RAM, even though I have 4 GB so as I remember I took Extreme, one before Maximum, it took me over 16 minutes to archive that file to .kgb and I got new size: 18.6 MB

I also tried to archive that file using 7zip to .7z using the Ultra compression ratio LZMA and from those 22 MB I got 18.9 MB and the compressing took less than 1 minute

Even though the results are not to much different ans taking an mp3 is not the best way to show it, but what I want to say that you can't archive something to nothing, from 500 MB to 2 MB, it depends on the file itself, most of file formats are already archived, as unpacked files are made out of 0 and 1, which you can see by reading a file in HEX mode, archives just archive those with different algorithms, even though there's much more to this, but this does not matter.


So I just tried to archive a simple PDF file which is mainly text of stuff to make it a PDF, I took a PDF file of size 6.61 MB and archived it with 7zip to .7z by selecting Ultra compression ratio and got an archive of 4.13 MB in less than 4 seconds, then I took the same PDF file and archived it using kgb archiver to .kgb using the Extreme compression method and this time it took me about 5 minutes and I got new size: 4.08 MB

not much of a difference, but it compress a little bit better, but much times slower and I guess with bigger files it could compress more, but the thread topic "with any file extension to 2MB from 500 MB" is wrong.

This is 64 KB file, which is a game, and this one you will have to extract the rar file, then use the kgb archiver to extract the .kgb file, then you will see how much undreds of megaBytes is does extract, and it has all sort of file formats.

IS YOU THAT IS WRONG, NOT ME, I HAVE BEEN DOWNLOADING MANY KGB FILES, WITH VERY SMALL SIZES, WITH ALL SORT OF FILE FORMATS, I WOULD NOT SHARE HERE A TOOL BEFORE TESTING.

If you got that error using kgb, then you must have a system error, or, most likely you have 4 GB, yes, but you must choose the highest compression and see how much memory it takes, then you must have that memory available, do you understand?

I did not say that you're wrong, nor I'm wrong as I just pointed out a point with two examples and stated that not with any/all file extensions as you said in the topic title, I'm a programmer, I know languages from ASM, C to PHP, C# and as I'm an engineering informatics student for years now, I know how computers work and what is a file and in some way I "understand" the algorithms used to take less space, so I believe you, but am just correcting you.

Well, the file GTA.rar is quite amazing, it's ~64 KB .kgb file and can decompress too over 600 MB, it's a pity I don't have the time to decompress it, as it may take over 4 hours to see if the archive contents are real and try to compress it again with lets say .7z, .bzip, .gzip to see the difference between space/filesize and time of the archiving, but it's quite amazing.

Personally, looking at one perspective, you download 64 KB file, it takes you ~less than 1 minute, but it takes 4-6 hours for it to decompress on a quite powerful computer, I except it would take over 12 hours on my older desktop? So isn't it just better to download a bigger file ~100 MB (which would usually take less than 4-12 hours) of the same thing and extract it in 1-2 minutes. It's a pity if you download a file 64kb, decompress it and see that it's a virus or something like that, you waited 4-12 hours for it to decompress and usually decompressing is taking much more resources (RAM, CPU == Electricity) from your computer than just downloading for several hours with some client.

Well reading about this...Something you need to consider is how PC's store information as well.

For example, a video with a lot of colors and movement will take up significantly more space than one with nothing but text.

So is this video that you posted like a colorful - Real life/animated video, or is it a textual video?


It's kind of like pictures. A .jpg may be 200 bytes with just 20 letters on a blue background, but the same size picture could be 30 MB's with a lot of color.

So that is something else to consider.


As for how long it will take to decompress the file, I do not see that as being an issue. Just knowing(assuming it is correct) that it is possible to compress and decompress files to those magnitudes would show that in the future there will be faster ways of going about it.

Not to mention we are moving closer to the solid state HDD and the "Limitless CPU" where it is instant and no longer even has a speed attached to it.

First of all, if i upload a file or pint you to an uploaded file, and i say that it works, it is because it works, the 64 KB file extracts a game, that is what i said, and that is the truth.

I told you that you need 4 to 8 hours to extract a super compressed kgb compressed file, i told you also that the problem is the time it takes to extract, even in a powerful computer.

The thing about this program is that it need a 3 or a 4 GHZ cpu, and i told that too, and it needs memory, memory available, and i told that too, i told all that many replies ago, i advice you to read a full topic, all replies in order to give a fair reply, if the topic has a lot of replies, that is life, but that way you do not sort of insult the topic creator, which always told the truth, and always tested everything he refered in his topics.

The kgb tool is going to be better used in the next generation of computers, the ones that it will have GB's of ram, at least 6/8, a 4 or 5 GHZ cpu and a very fast hard drive to keep up.

I could also upload other kgb files or point you out to upload kgb files on the internet, but i already gave you a google search above, you will find many highly compressed kgb files, mostly illegal, but it is just for you to see the truth, nothing more, nothing less, just to help make my point.

The games have audio and video files, and even according to your theories, nobody can compress ten times less or that it can not compress audio or video files because they are already compressed, well, it can yes, the 64 KB file extracts 600 MB, how it that possible even if it had only text files, according to you theory it is not, but your theory is wrong, because the 64 KB has a lot more then only txt files, a lot more.

Out of curiosity(due to your persistance) I decided to give this program a go.

What did I come up with as a conclusion? It is exactly as I thought, and said.

The files you were shrinking that small were just being compressed - much like WinRar does.



The files I tried were:

ts2_client_rc2_2032.exe(99.7%)
blame_it_on_me.mp3(101.3%)
kgb.exe(99.8%)
test.txt(12317.1%)

Proceeding the names is the compression value as stated by the program when they were finished. As you will notice, the only one that got shrunk at all was the text file.

Anyone can try this with real videos or whatever they want. You will come up with the same(about the same) results.


Dispute it or not, I'm finished with this thread. I already got the proof that I need(that this doesn't work as advertised.)

For all others - I would suggest just going with WinRar.
