This seem like a rather vague topic.

I hope to read the first book in Eragon and Sabriel. Hopefully I like both so I can read more in the series.

Well...the month's not over yet, so I can only go with what I've read SO FAR this month smile.gif

Erica Kennedy's "Bling." This wasn't bad. I didn't think that she had to go with so much back story...and the asides to explain things...but it worked all right for her first novel. Not bad overall.

Chuck Palahniuk's "Choke." I figured that this would be a lot like "Fight Club," seeing as the latter novel was the one that made this guy famous. But, it's not like it at all. It's a pretty good read if you like Chuck P's fast-paced and really weird writing style.

I re-read Stephen King's "The Bachman Books." The old edition with "Rage." You know - before he became concerned about the whole school shootings thing and had that novella replaced with "Thinner." Yuck.

Oh, and I also read "Cell" (another King novel). It's not as good as some of his older books. I liked it, but not enough to re-read at some point in the future.

Right now I'm waiting for Anthony Swofford's "Jarhead" to show up. I saw the film and really want to read the book because I'm betting that the guy's novel explains things more thoroughly. As in, why in the world the unit did half of the things that they did...what was on the guy's mind...that sort of thing. The stuff that the movies can't often show us. smile.gif

I'm reading Notes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson. Its a good book simply becuase it keeps you laughing all the way through, especially due to the fact that you can relate to every observation and opinion expressed.

I'm currently reading The Exquisite Thing, an erotic novel by Joyce Maciver. )@mn, I'd like to write like her! Erotic, hot, yet at the same time subtle and non-vulgar happy.gif

Oh, and while I'm at it, I'd also like her heroine's power of seduction happy.gif

Personally, i do not have time to read books for fun anymore. Between working, college, research and fraternity events and such i spend most of my time reading school books. This past week i read about 15 different research papers published in SIGRAPH about real time render of plants, soft shadows, hard shadows, prt, etc. that i need for research. They are hard core programming papers but are very interesting and the realistic graphics they produce is amazing. For me, this is somewhat my fun reading cause its much better than a book for women's studies or something like that

I'm reading "From the Mull to the Cape" by Richard Guise. It's about him cycling from Mull of Kintyre to Cape Wrath in the north of Scotland.

It's inspiring me to do something similar, now all I've got to do is persuade the other half to join me! Oh and pray for good weather lol!

  12. What Is The Most Messed Up Book You Have Ever Read?
Tell us what books are really messed up, but not necessarily good/bad (18)
I myself just started reading the book "American Psycho" by Bret Easton Ellis. It's seriously
the most effed up book I have ever read. I was reading during "DEAR" at my school today ("Drop
everything and read".... hella retarded name) and my mouth gaped open in awe at what I was reading.
I was like oh em gee, dudes!! This stuff is messed up. This guy, the "protagonist" (Though the
reader kind of hates him too), is a psychotic. He is very homophobic and hateful towards almost
everyone . He rapes his girlfriend. He went up to this bum and started offering him l....
  13. Books Converted Into Movies Or Movies Into Books.

Hello! I hated Harry Potter. It was good at the first few movies, but it just got worse. I have lost
interest. Unforunate Events was good, I liked it. It was funny, but in the movie the wedding play
was supposed to be before they moved into Monty's house. Otherwise, it would have been better.
If you would like to say which book should be a movie, say it here or share your comments of the

    His Books.. (1)
I don't know if many people read his books, maybe some have read American Psycho but aren't
really into the author. I happen to be a very big fan of him, it all started when i read The Rules
of attraction. Its about 3 people (Sean, Lauren, and Paul) Sean happens to really like Lauren, and
Lauren kind of likes Sean, but at the same time Lauren is still in love with victor. Meanwhile, Paul
(lauren's ex) has a crush on Sean. Another character happens to have a crush on sean...but its
not so promising, and she is probably my favorite character in the whole book....

interested! Very good! If you havent read either of them for any reason, religious or not, I would
suggest reading them! They are great. Now my truly favorite trilogy... or at least soon to be

A small investigation about most popular books (100)
The question is very simple, what is your favourite boook? And why? I have also added a small pool
about how many books do you read each year. Anyway my favourite is L.A. Confidential written by
James Ellroy. It's a very good police story with a intriguing plot, but it's also a
masterpiece of politic and social analize. The power games of institutions, the corruption that have
attacked police and government and the general undeground atmosphere are the pillars fo this
beautiful book. It isn't a simply police book, but a fresco of a society and of a period of ....
