Hi. I haven't been to Australia, but did go through some of the posts in this thread. Based on what I read, Australia is like America in my opinion. This topic is interesting. It makes a good thread on Trap 17. I have always thought Australia is like America. If you are familiar with both countries, you can probably come up with numerous differences. It's a matter of opinions whether the two are alike or not. For me, I think they are alike for the time being. Sorry, Aussies!...

i have no opinion at all for them, who owned differet characteristic and spirit but both show the advanced thought to world.maybe a certain movie indicate difference or similar, but in real life,i think they are not like in nature.
QUOTE(Charlie @ Apr 26 2005, 08:24 PM) do you think Australia is like america and why? I think is is from all of the movies we watch. what do you think? Well, America is Upside Down They Use a Different System from us (Australia) they dont use the Metric System. And They Drive on the Left Side rather on the Right Side, USA is runned by the Precident (Bush) But Australia is by the Queen of England. We have Holden But They Ripped us of by ripping of Holden Cars. They are The First Fattest Country in the World, but Australia is Second Fattest Country in the world. Australia's Address is .com.au but Americas is .com. America Has Nuclear Wepons and Australia Dont. AMERICA is spelt Different Than AUSTRALIA, the differences keeps on going, so Yeah, I dont think Australia is like America. Every Coumtry is Unique.
I can't tell if you were being serious about the Queen Mum ruling Australia. I hope to Vishnu that you were not.

I'm Telling o Krishna I'am I think the music is very similar too. Australia seems to be getting more American music than Aussie music... The movies are similar too...all the movies seem to be coming from America I think from all the movies and TV shows, Australians are kind of being taught to act American, which is a little scary. But yeah, that's just my opinion. Other than that Australia and America do have their differences. Australia uses the metric system, America doesn't. Australia and America spell things differently like colour and color. America has a president, Australia has a Prime Minister. Australia and America have different slang terms, which is something I like...I hope the Aussie slang never changes. lol. And the list goes on...
My best online friends have always been Australian, and I agree there are a lot of different slang terms. Sometimes I don't realize how rude something completely clean might be taken.
Also, there are difference in the gun laws, they are stricter in Australia. There's difference in what sorts of medicine that you can buy over the counter- they are stricter in America.
Being Australian myself, I would say that Australia is as 'Americanized' as any other country. As in, we have the fast-food outlets, the high budget Hollywood movies, etc...
You have to remember that Australia is only a very 'young' country compared with the rest of the world, only being colonised by the British just a bit over two hundred years ago. Although the closest neighbour is Asia, Australia seems to try very hard to keep up with the rest of the Western World [like USA, UK and Europe].
Well the A at the beginning and the A at the end of the spellings are same
Well I havent had the pleasure to go visit both continents yet but im sure they both have very different lifestyles ~ Munchie ~ Latest Entries

No... I'm not fifteen yet... and I am definitely going to a university after school. Well, if it's a small town, then I suppose they either don't have a lot of education on sexual health or it's just a town that encourages sex at a young age... but still, it gives a bad reputation to Australia, I reckon. And what were YOU doing talking to a guy like that? Don't tell me YOU have also been having sex at a young age too!!! *tut tut* *shakes head* wow lol..what's a fifteen year old guy doing on this forum!? I was just on omegle hoping to meet some new people and no i have not..I've done sexual stuff with girls but ugh..no sex yet Here in Australia we call high school "secondary school", then primary school, prep school and kindy or "group of brats gone wild". In Britain they began calling secondary schools "high schools". Just one more small loss of the sense of British culture I guess. Before you know it Liverpool f.c will have a "schedule" and will fight for a champions league place in the league "standings".

We have a nationwide technical college called "T.A.F.E" where you go for courses from 1/2 a year to 3 1/2 years in duration. A wide variety of different courses are offered there. If you finish 3 1/2 years at a T.A.F.E Institute you obtain an Advanced diploma. Not just this but if you want to follow up further you can do an extra year at University and you then have your degree in you chosen occupational field (in some fields). 10% attendance for post secondary school attendance? The guy must have been from boganville (meaning he must have resided in a place where all the drop kicks are cast out too). Probably lives in Tasmania ive head about those poeple, nah just kidding. well he lives in this town like 3 hours above Sydney lol lol you're younger than 15? I never said they don't go to secondary school I mean POST secondary school like colleges/universities No... I'm not fifteen yet... and I am definitely going to a university after school.
