Here is a list of the current free software for digital artists. This list was created by researching various sources, and I am sure that there are more where this lot came from. Feel free to add a source to the list, and comments on each program are also accepted. This is only a list of the current free programs that I am aware of, and there may or may not be a few links dealing with something other than graphic design. All free playwrighting software that I know of will also be listed here. No pirated stuff will be added to this list! Thank you.

GIMP.
A good program! It is free to use and there are plenty of tutorials out there on it! A nice choice for those who cannot afford Photoshop.
Pixia.
An art program with great features. It was orignally a Japanese program, but since it has gain a following there are other versions too.
Blender 3D.
A nice 3D graphics program. Create various three dimensional works with ease, and I think animation is also possible with this one.
Artweaver.
A digital painting studio. It is yet another free program for download and use. It is available in the English and German language.
Anim8or.
I really like this program. It is a 3D animation program, that has tons of features! This is worth a look over--and there are tutorials on this as well.
Monkey Jam.
Another animator with features for things such as claymation and the like. Movies in Monkey Jam can be exported as AVI files.
Texture Processor.
A nice program for those who like to create textures for their graphics. Good for background graphics!
Apophysis.
A freeware fractal flame editor for windows. It has tutorials and other neat features too.

Playwrighting Software
Includes script editors for playwrighting!

Cinergy Script Editor.
A free scripting and playwrighting tool. I personally use this program, and it is great for editing your scripts to give it a professional look! Worth it for anyone interested in writing plays!
