I do agree with you,that kaspersky is a good antivirus...but it isnt the best. I found out that it cant remove most of the modern day viruses. Unfortunately I dont remember the name of the virus which I recetnly came across and this antivirus couldnt track it. According to me, no antivirus is 100% dependable. And as far as the best is concerned I dont think any antivirus is best. All are good though!

No antivirus is 100% effective. Nowadays, more of the focus is generalized around malware, to include spyware, Trojans, and other malicious code. Personally, I run Norton Internet Security Suite 2009 to give myself some sort of an illusion that my PC is secure.  I also utilize Panda's scan services and Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware for full manual system scans just to make sure... and even then, I'm not 100% satisfied. It still boils down to individual usage habits. If you indulge in risky behavior or peruse in popular attack venues (like social networking, sharing files with others, and even Internet shopping), you can fall for a lot of socially-engineered attacks, let a virus or Trojan into your system, etc.

I have created some dependence on kaspersky antivirus, although I switched to kaspersky internet security 2010, but kaspersky can't 't remove generally adware. But since I am using a vista home premium and I don't navigate lots of websites in the web, my computer is always safe. I never had problems with vista+kis together, while I used to have lots of problems due to virus and malware and adware to my ex computer(pc one) with xp professional. I always keep my computer up to date and never deactivate vista updates.

Although there a similar topic on trap17 already, apparently Bitdefender is the best anti-virus out at the moment (or at least it was a month ago). Kaspersky is really great but its guard feature caused a little fuss for me and corrupted Dreamweaver on my system (but my laptop is slow by today's standards).

I'd cast my vote for BitDefender too.It may not look cool or anything, but it gets the job done neatly. It's not really perfect, but no other AV is perfect, is it? BitDefender has worked like a charm for me so far. My primary OS is Ubuntu so I dont need any AV for that, but whenever I go into Windows for some gaming, I check on how BitDefender's doing and the results are satisfactory  Kaspersky's good, but why settle for the good when you're getting the best?

So far as per my observation, ESET NOD32 is one with less annoyance and good against viruses. Kaspersky and Bitdefender are good as well.Though i also keep "Spybot seach and destroy" and "Adaware" installed and run it frequently. Malwarebytes antimalware suite is also good to remove few malware off from computer. I find NIS(Norton) with poor performance on computers with less RAM. It eats lots of resource. and not effective against viruses and spywares.

I had McAfee for over a year, and I was pretty pleased with it for a while. My sister had the same program, and she got a virus though, and McAfee did nothing to stop it. See, that's the thing. An antivirus software may look good up front, but until you actually have a virus, it's hard to know how it'll stand up. McAfee didn't even have a way for me to quarantine or delete the file that I KNEW was infected, which was absolutely maddening. McAfee also gives you no way to flag any file as safe, so if McAfee thinks it's a virus, it doesn't matter if you know it's safe or not. I don't feel safe using McAfee anymore, thanks to that incident. Now I've been using Avast!, and it seems to work alright for now. As we know of course, I won't know unless I get a virus. (And I certainly hope I don't). Avast! is good though, in that it does allow you to quarantine infected files manually, and choose to ignore warnings, so I am pleased with that. It also plays some fancy sound effects when it finds a virus, it's skinnable, and it looks like a media player, so I love it.

I think that ESET anti-virus is one of the best for such a price and it's really powerful, as I know several companies which don't have any problems with viruses where eset is installed on the main comouter and is protecting all the computers, also ESET seems to be light and powerful, where kaspersky might slowdown your computer a lot for no reason, due to different technology. For free antivirus for personal use I think that Avast is one of the best and of course even better anti-virus is to not get any viruses at all, don't use cracks, don't open unknown files, email attachments and so on, and don't browse porno or crack sites, as usually there's nothing good there anyway. Some people use a virtual machine to check for files having an installation of XP, if everything works, they continue to use it on their main desktop.

I would root for bit defender - it tops the charts on all aspects and although some may say its not user-friendly i would still say it's the best compared to the others.

I have an antivirus but i dont use it, The real time protection makes the computer slower and I go to the same websites every day. There is no point in wearing sunscreen when your not going to leave your house
