110mbA big name in the hosting world today, indeed. I remember back in the days, 110mb offered LOTS of amazing features, despite the fact they couldn't keep them. I talked to support, they were about 2 - 3 people controlling it all. It was nice ! Don't get me wrong, anyway. On to my POINT. We all (or some of us) remember 110mb as the best host possible! (Sorry, even better than Trap17 ) But what it has become now is really bad. First of all - They brag too much about their "amazing" offer. They offer things such as: CODE 2 GB FTP 100GB Bandwidth 10 SQL Databases FTP Access 110DBManager (better then phpMyAdmin) Etcetera etcetera. Let's take a look! I have an account on 110mb, i log in to my panel. And i see a FRESH REDESIGN of the LayeredPanel script. (they also talk a lot about them recoding it all etc, CARE!) Regarding the new LIMITS, due to "hackers" and "abusers", they had to lock down the entire list of REGULAR features you can get ANYWHERE. Now - You must PURCHASE (What happened to FREE!?) access to one and one feature! Here's the list: Sendmail ON - 5$Register_Globals ON - 1.50$ Turn ON MySQL Database Support - 9.95$Turn ON .htaccess Support - 5$Turn ON CGI/Perl/Python/Sendmail/Htaccess - 9.95$Total Ammount of money needed for all features: 31.40$So.. WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR "FREE" IMAGE? The moment i saw this, i was outrageous! Oh yes! MAD and FURIOUS! I liked their host the way it was. Sure - They get problems with abusers using SENDMAIL to abuse etc, but that's no big bomb! I'd certainly pay a buck or two as "insurance" for that I won't abuse anyone with my website, but the fact I need to pay for ALL OF THESE (STANDARD) features!? HELL NO! 110mb - I just don't understand WHY... WHY RESTRICT the MySQL Databases to 10$ ? (ok 9.95, whatever.) For 10$ - I could get almost 2 months hosting at the world's best host (*at the time posted, it has the highest rated reviews*), and they offer 8 times more than you do! Why did you TAKE AWAY your GREAT looking "FREE 4 LIFE" brand - And replace it with pesky price tags for normal features? Seriously 110mb, you just lost one valuable and loyal customer. And he's not returning again, unless you improve. (Then again - Why listen to 1 free user's complaints, move along! The others will surely use 32$ on FREE hosting *cough*). Just my 2 cents... I just needed to get this out, to everyone. -Atthack

As a Migrated Former user of 110mb, it pains me to say you had to post 350 comments on their forum to activate the MySQL. But the thing that angers me even more is the fact that they still offer MySQL as a part of the free package advertisement on their site(I think they added an "*" now) And what angers me the most is that they offer fantastico scripts, all of which need a MySQL...what the? Plus at random times, at night the FTP went down for me. This makes you think, back in the day 110mb used to be the best out there, and when people started to sign up an incredible rate, their costs went up, having to take out some features, my worst fear the same cataclysmic effect will be repeated in trap 17, when the cost to host free with all these features take their toll on Trap 17...

Hi there! I am also a former 110mb.com user. I also left them as they hardly keep any thing free now. THey are a good host but I think they are now shifting to be a paid hosting site now. though they are doing it slowly. It seems that they are upgrading the whole system but in a very unclean manner. every time you visite there site you will surely find a message that some box is down for some time. this is very bad. If you are looking for some free host then you have come to the right place. Trap17 is up for two years and just increasing there features in the list. you will just have to be active in the forums. and the good news is that it's based on the credit system. so you can also go offline from the board for some time. plus you can also go for qupis.com they are also a part of this site. but they display a ad at the bottom of your page. but they don't require forum activity. Yep, glad others see the problems with 110mb as well. And I wasn't aware of the MYSQL thing and forum stuff, but the thing is - Why should you post for something when it is "FREE" hosting? Before - You got everything neatly set up, and the minor bugs were nothing because of the great features we got. Now - I feel they've become too "popular" and they think so themselves. They've become too greedy, and we all know paying for features that are at such a low standard as MYSQL or REGISTER_GLOBALS ON is WEAK. Trap17 is a nice community, and i'll definately be seeing if i won't get myself some hosting here Thanks for your feedback everyone, anyone else have something they want to share ?

I remember these fools, I believe I used them back into 2004 when I was looking for php hosts. Of course I never like their admin panel either, but now I have trap17 to keep me warm at nights .

QUOTE(Atthack @ Aug 19 2007, 07:17 AM) Why should you post for something when it is "FREE" hosting? To answer your question: It's the activity that keeps the service up. I guess this could be said for any business. And i guess you can say Trap17 pays back activity with their own activity. The forums used to have advertisements that would help pay for the Trap17 service. But ever since ComputingHost (another Xisto service) has been doing great, the adverts have been removed and the income that pays for Trap17 comes from them. Trap17 had become a big community before then, it would be unfair and odd to discontinue the forums. By the way, i hope you're enjoying your stay here.

Yes, definately am Truefusion. And I've never really been fond of the community in 110mb. All i'm saying is - It's unfair that they've changed in a bad way. THE LEAST they could do is actually stop bragging about the great features they provide (even though they've placed a simple "*" next to it) and actually say that you must PAY for these features. (But then again - What is that to do with FREE HOSTING?). Here you can post and get EVERYTHING in one. Not "post a bit here, and pay a bit here, and it'll all solve itself!" That's the WRONG APPROACH, if you ask me. (< That was to 110mb.) Finally - I guess I had a bad start with Trap17, as the first time I was hosted here I went to Cyprus for 2 weeks , and posting here was impossible. And since I came back stuff just went out of hand. But I'm willing to give it another shot with you guys! Atleast - As long as It's FREE for me, it's one more user for you

Yeah it's true that they have changed a bad way! I don't know why is this? May be that they want to earn money also. I don't say that they have no right for earning money. But they should have done it in a decent manner. They always force some new rules.

Yeah, and not everyone needs dynamic sites either, a lot of people are just looking for a site for their personal site about them self or their business, and 110mb is good for those things, but I usually like to have forums on my site, which 110mb doesn't support.

QUOTE(Bluebear @ Mar 23 2008, 12:28 PM) They should stop calling them self "a free host" if the users need to pay for such things listed on first page. I always gets pissed if I register to a host, and then I have to pay for things... I believe that has happened with 110mb too. How annoying. Very trye. But, their basic service is "free", so they aren't technically lying. It's not that they're not a free host anymore - just that they're a really crappyone.

The whole paying for MySQL thing stinks, I had a site there, and I had to have a lot of the dynamic content... *Shudders* Remotely Hosted... EW! I didn't know they used to provide that for free, but now that I do, I think it was really silly of them to change it. You can get a MySQL database just about anywhere for free, so why would anyone who needs MySQL PAY to get it there? The only reason I could think would be that they have good uptime and faster loading times then a lot of free hosts, but there are also plenty of free hosts with equally good uptime and speed (E.G. Trap17) that don't cost a penny. The only thing about 110MB that would make me choose it over T17 is the forum posting, but I'd go for the forum posting over the lack of MySQL and other stuff. Anyway, yeah forget 110mb.

QUOTE(Ergeiz @ Mar 22 2008, 04:52 AM) Obviously it was just a ploy to downgrade users, using an almost seemingly legit reason. Hah. THe thing that was probably playing through their minds was. We've offered a good service, what if all these free accounts, would be to changed to Paid hosting? Splendid! Not... Changes like that would probably only convice 20% to change to paid hosting. Maybe even less, maybe they even took that in account.
All in all, i can understand why they did it (for t3h bucks). But whatever. A free host is a free host and what you pay is what you get (were talking about long terms, in which most hosts only last 3-4 years max). Lets hope there are companies Arhem* that can show us a different light. What you pay is what you get... so you get nothing on Trap17 for being a good member of the community... I understand what you mean. Most hosts only last about 3 to 4 years because they grow too quickly... Trap17 has only been here for about 3 years... we'll see what happens in 2 more.

Hacking - What Is It And How Is It Related To My Hosting?
Doubt about the rules (10) I was reading the Trap17 rules and i noticied that hacking tools are illegal at trap17. What i want
to know is what is considered for you guys (trap people or not) as an hack tool? My opinion is that
an hack is something that breaks a system. Like brute force a password, or get inside a system and
change some values. But what about a bot? (a bot is something that automatically do a job for you,
like an anti-virus, search the virus and clean them) As a programmer, it's a problem fighting
hackers. Greetz JL....

Paid Hosting Vs. Trap17 Free Web Hosting
Trap17 : Free Hosting for websites (9) Hey peoples, after a long while of absence I've returned to T17. I have concluded that some
paid hosting servers can never beat T17. I will not mention the name of the server, unless I have a
fiat for that, but here's the conclusion: About one and a half year ago I had my site(s) hosted
at Trap 17 for about a 9 to 12 months, in this period I had all... A server wich only costs posting

Afmu.com Free Web Hosting
(15) This looks like an ok host. It uses flash on the HP like trap. It is like Computinghost and Qupis
combined. There is only one bad thing about it- you have to have your own domain to transfer to them

you do that is broken! I would rate this site a 7/10. The site is at http://www.afmu.com .....
Perfect Free Web Hosting
Perfect? Yeah, right! (23) Sometime last month, I tried a web host called Perfect Free Webhosting (before I decided to go with
T17 again). They claim to have "instant activation," which it comes close. They also claim to have
good features (never got to try them all). However, I wasn't even with them for two days , and
somehow my site was deleted completely from their server. I went to their support forum, and
noticed a topic about an experience similar to mine. It turns out, many members (moost of the
people who post regularly there) are having this same problem. I check back on that f....

reason I came to Trap17, by talking about my two previous hosts and why I left them. I would advise
that if you're with these hosts then LEAVE THEM NOW! Unless you want your sites to be
totally unpopular like mine... Ok, one day I came up with this radical idea after playing a game on
the internet and listening to the comments people were giving. A lot of people where ....

I loved it and thought it was great. I feel bad for anyone else that lost their hosting there.....
