| | am using ubuntu now. when i was using windows, firefox was my favourite browser. it used to be very fast.
but when i shifted to ubuntu, i find that firefox has gone very slow and also it crashes (hangs) very often.
is it because of some configuration mistake?
it is having problems when updating. what could be the problem? |

It may be your extensions. Whenever Firefox wouldn't open for me in Linux, i would delete the extensions and "magically" Firefox opens up again. I find the extensions for Firefox in Linux a bit unstable when compared to their Windows' counterpart. Your Firefox settings should be located at CODE ~/.firefox But i'm an Opera user. I only use Firefox in Linux for checking out compatibility between browsers.

Firefox being slow on Ubuntu is a known issue and has been discussed on the Ubuntu forum for a long time now. Apparently other distro"s do not have this problem with there versions of Firefox. There is also a Swiftfox version of the browser that is supposed to be quicker. I installed Swiftfox using the Automatix installer. I also read some tricks on the Ubuntu forum using about:config to tweek some of the network settings which helped a lot of users.

(2) I can't figure out why, but my Firefox hasnt been loading any Java applets. Instead it freezes

(2) Hey, when i try to log in to windows live mail, it either takes a couple of minutes and then shows
an error, but mostly it just shows the page's script/code... This happens as well when i try to
open a direct link to a clip on YouTube (not when i start at the main page). Does anyone have an
idea of what is happening? Please help me... I also tried Windows Live Mail on internet explorer,
but gives a blank screen (*hates IE*) thx in advance....
Firefox Trying To Save Webpages
(8) Hello, There are times when (such as on here at trap17) I try to submit a forum reply and instead
of firefox loading the thread after submitting a popup opens up and asks how to open "index.php". I
don't know when this started happening, it's been a little while now and seems to be on and
off, but it has just recently become a large problem as I have just accidently submitted a reply
about 5 times in another thread. I have already deleted the firefox settings from my application
settings folder; however, that did nothing to help. Any suggestions will be great....
Problem With Firefox, Latest Version, Not Loading Pages
any ideas? (4) Hi all Ive had this problem for a little while now, i cant say exactly when but it started with
sites such as youtube and has spread out from there really, the biggest culprits are youtube and
myspace. The issue is that if i was on youtube and wanted to watch a video i would obviously click
the link, firefox would then show the loading bar and my page loading timer would start but it would
never actually begin loading, the status bar would say "loading" or if i clicked the link again it
would show "stopped" yet the loading bar would be there. Needless to say the loadin....
Firefox Dictionary Word Edit
Oops! Accidentally selected "Save to dictionary" on a mis- (3) So I've done this twice now. If I keep it up, I'll never find another typo or misspelled
word when I'm going through searching for them. When I right-clicked on the wrongly spelled word
I accidentally clicked on the "save to dictionary" choice instead of the corrected word when it came
up. Now, how do I go in and find that new addition to my dictionary and delete it? I'm using the
latest version of OSX for Mac, by the way. I have a feeling if I go searching through the "library"
file under FF, I might find the answer and if that's the case, I'll p....
Firefox Is Blocking Ads!
How can I stop it?! (15) Firefox 1.5 is blocking advertisments on all sites. How can I stop this? I can't view or click
them on Trap17, or elsewhere. How can I stop Firefox from blocking the ads?....
