Here's a dandy little tool for customizing your desktop, kind of like the MacOSX ones. There is tons of different doo-dads (for lack of a better term) that you may put on your desktop. They've got everything from notepads to weather reports and mini-games. I personally use the CPU monitor and weather report. [LINK]

I have heard about similar "widgets" from other companies before. They are like Windows Vista, which allows you to put various thing on the desktop, including a desktop search, weather, rss feed reader etc. I have never tried them before, because I like a clear desktop. I have less then a column of icons on it and only two to three icons at the tray. I don't like to crowd my desktop.

Have you seen styleXP? It's not free, but the demo is. It lets you style a lot of things on your XP, different skins and themes and all that goodness.

I love them. The only problem is that they slow down your computer. Trust me you will notice no matter how great your computer is. Because of all of that I uninstalled the engine.
