Anyone use Windows Live and the new Windows live messenger that has just come out. Is it worth trying out because it can do stuff thats very handy, like sharing folders with your contacts, PC to PC phone calls, PC to phone calls. A lot of this stuff I,m already doing with Skye, Google Talk, etc.

WLM is quite koo smile.gif
nothing overly significant added really. yeah sure, theres VOIP buti use skype for that smile.gif
i feature which is really handy, is the "shared folder". Which means you have a "folder" where anyone else on ur contact list (with WLM) can simply add files etc to it, and as many at the same time as you want (their may be a limit. . . but its better than one yeah?)

Offline messaging is quite useful too. So you cna send ppl messag eif your set as oflfine, AND you can ppl messages if their offline, and then when they next sign in to msn they'll get your messages you sent smile.gif

I use windows live messenger. It is very call. It has it all PC to PC calling and calling to phone and voice chatting. I was a beta user when it wasn't completed the design was nothing like the current one, it was ugly. But know it is better, much butter. Although it has many bugs but it stays the most popular chatiing program in the world.

Yeah MSN is playing catch when it comes to some of the features, specially those that are available on skype like folder to folder, microphone and so on. There are still some bugs in it, especially where it may do a windows 98-style freeze on the program.

But still messenger is still one of the popular messenger programs in the world. It would be interesting one day if they had integrated messenger with yahoo, icq and so-forth. That's assuming the rumours of messenger integration that were around earlier in the year does not eventuate down the track.

I prefer google talk, and even if google talk does not have some features now, it will have very soon, especially now with this heavy competition.

I used to use Windows Live Messenger...until it didn't work.

Windows Live Messenger (aka MSN Messenger 8.0) is so bad. The design mgiht be nice, but it can stop working on you any minute.

I was logging onto my user account and then there was an Error Reporting dialog box. It was Messenger 8.0, so I sent the error report and then restarted the software. Same thing. I did this about 5 times, restarted the computer and it still happened. After a few days, I re-downloaded MSN Messenger 7.5 and stuck with that since.

Windows Live Messenger is a piece of crap for me.
