spending time with friends and socialising blink.gif
Or in the way of counterstrike

IMHO a geek is someone whose computer life influences his normal life. He begins to say OMG instead of oh my god or noob when someone makes a mistake in actual real time. However for most people I bet a geek is anyone who dwells in images, web pages, and programing.

Most geeks I know spend as much time socializing as everyone else, they just act different.

It depends. For people that arenīt too much into computers, I suppose everyone that has some kind a passion related with that (a website, posting at forums, graphic design, playing games, chatting...) looks like a geek. But if you are one of this persons you donīt have to consider yourself a geek, because there would be almost more geeks than "ordinary" people.

I suppose that if computers are your only hobby and you cannot have a conversation without talking about them... well, then youīll probably are a geek. tongue.gif

lmao... nice topic.

Geek: A person who's studious and focuses on gathering and knowing correct facts/information for the sole purpose of being omniscient. It is usually done for self-satisfaction. However, one does not shy away from the world. Interaction with the world is one of ways to gather information. Yet, lacks the social grace to infiltrate as the norm people.

Nerd: A geek without a clue of this world and social behavior.

HAHHA these are my definitions and I'm sticking to it! Geeks are not only confined to computer stuff but also in other fields. You can notice them right away when you say an incorrect fact, they are eager to correct you or say the correct fact. Their social manner is something to be questioned since they lack the ability to understand that there is something called, "personal space" when talking. laugh.gif They may look as normal as others (no white tape around the thick black glasses, or greasy hair with zits) but their ideal world revolves around intellectual challenges rather than the beauty that is skin deep. Sure you may find them easily in Star Trek conventions and Microsoft Meet and Greet, but you can also find them tuning up the red hot sports car with the latest exhaust pipe with tricked out interior that turns into mobile living room.

dadaaaa I'm a geek. I tell people I'm a geek but most of the time they don't believe me.. I mean at school. When we get into a conversation about geeks etc.. I'm like I'm a geek and they just tell me to shut up or something. My friends I hang with say we're geeks thought smile.gif

I'm a hyprocrite right..sorry to say, and I hate labelling but I do it subconsiously.. and I just call people geeks...just to sortof like describe someone, lol.

To me and my friends geeks are just people that aren't popular. haha. You get geeky geeks and pretty geeks. (my mates) I'm the ugliest one in the 'group'.

Btw.. to the posts above.. geeks who love computers are called COMPUTER geeks. lol. There's lots of different types.. starting to sound like a breed.uh oh.
There's band geeks.
Computer geeks.
Clever geeks.
Fit geeks.
Popular geeks.
Ugly geeks.
Game geeks.

I'm a geek with a lot of confidence(on the outside) speaks too much and loves socialising AND computers AND I'm not clever AND I'm really ugly AND i'm different AND I can mingle with the so called 'popular' people AND I can hold a conversation without talking about computers AND other geeks mostly hate me AND I do go out BUT I do stay at home on the computer too.

Basically everyone in the world is a geek.. if there were requirements to be one.
There is no definition of geek.. it's just geek.

A geek... A geek is someone who has little or no friends, probably have stupid childish problems, like asma, or needs glasses. Someone who knows alot about useless things, and joins boring after school clubs. And a geek is someone who you copy answers from.

@hellraiser -- I take quite offence from those remark. I find myself to be a geek, yet I have quite a few friends. I go to the mall a lot. Hm, I dohave asthma, but I try not to show it, I don't bring my inhaler to school and take a puff during class. I do wear glasses but they suit my look otherthen without them.

Stupid childish problems? Usually if you're a computer geek you don't' have "stupid childish problems", because you're smart enough to know how to handle them, and if you can't, you're not a geek.

Someone who you copy answers from, that's wrong aswell, I don't let people copy my answers, and if they do they'll end up with quite a few wrong problems on there math work.

I've never joined a "boring after school club". After school I go out with my friends, park, mall, her house, whatever, and don't get home till around 6PM.

I will admint I know a lot of usless things, but I don't really share them with people. I only share my knowledge with people if I must.

Watch what you say next time or you could be looking at a ban.
