Hi,
This topic is to make a survey on how many of us actually started our websites(more of Forums) to earn money. How Many do earn and how many dont earn ? How many members or visitors you have ? And different stuff like that. Even I started my website with that intention. But no success with just 1400 members in the first 9 months. Please tell your status |

I never started my website with the intention of earning money. Originally I wanted somewhere to put a blog and somewhere to store my PHP scripts and other stuff, so I could share them. I'm quite happy with the number of unique visitors I get each month, and it has steadily climbed to around 1,000 per month, which is nothing spectacular for my blog, but I don't really care. i did once consider putting some Google AdSense ads on the site, but I decided against it. I don't need any money to run my site, even my hosting and bandwidth are provided for free by the brilliant Trap 17! Adverts would detract visitors away from my site if anything, and I thought they would sort of spoil it.

Well, I am starting websites because I do it as a hobby not as a money making tool. However as I have bought domain names for my websites I want to cover the cost of the yearly fees so I will place banners here and there but nothing too fancy or too many. The idea is to make the site self-sustaining so that it can be online longer.

I've started my site just to provide whatever I know to others and also to learn more. Having a website also helps us to get an Online Identity. But I will go for money when I need to expand my site.

Not every one will start a site for money alone. There are lots of ways to earn money online, among which a website also helps a lot. Even freelancers can earn money by taking projects for clients who approach them after seeing their site.
