Hey guys im thinking of buying a laptop and I would like to know what you guys felt on these two differnt brands specifially in laptops. It seems that in most amds you have ATIs and in most intels you have Nvidia is this just coincedence? Also some one the other day was telling me that ATI is so much better a 128 meg ati is the same as a 256 nvidia true? Any help on this would be great.

I think that this is wrong, I mean why should Nivida say announce for example that this card is 256 megs, and ATI say aout the same card that it is 128megs? I think you should probably contact ATI and ask them. I personnally uses Nivida I had my graphic card from 2 years and I never had a problem with them. So I think you should stick with Nivida products because I think they are the best for this buisness.

I believe it is just coincidence. I've seen a lot of Dells with ATi's in them, so really it just depends on which model you've been browsing, and in which pricerange. Usually there aren't many lower end nVidia cards for laptops, so you see more ATi's in that range.

And yes, it could be true the 128mb ATi is better than the 256mb nVidia. Just having more memory does not mean anything (a good example is the 128mb 6600GT vs the 256mb 6600 - the GT is a better performer due to better speeds etc, even though it has less memory). You'd have to tell us the actual card models, or give us the specs though before anyone could give you a definite answer on which one is better.

There's nothing wrong with ATi really, though for the best value for money at the moment, especially in desktops, nVidia seems to be the way to go.
