I know that many sites offer free email service.like yahoo, hotmail.but most of these have some Ads on the control pannel.for example, hotmail have big ads on the right.
so my question is,can anyone suggest some free email service without Ads on the control pannel and the domain is easy to remeber. by the way, anyone know any site offer free email service with an edu domain except australia.edu.for example ,myname@somesite.edu. |

i doubt you will find one which is good. Why dont you just use an ad blocking software. Firefox's extension adblock can be helpful or you can search download.com.

That is interesting as i found a free web host that allowed you to create your own email address, and it could be what ever you wanted as long as it didn't end in .com or .com.au, or anything else that is private. so im not sure if you can get .edu but i am sure that you can make any other email that you want. Im sorry but i can not tell you what free web host it was but i know that it was on the list on this forum.

The gmail (google mail) doesn't have ads, only a couple of relevant ads on the right related with the content, so, they are "good ads" if you know what i mean.

Well google mail is far the best, and ther are small text ads somewhere sometimes, but you wont notice them. They affcouse have one of the best spam filters out there, i realy like their filter, for the time im using it, only once i got spam email ;P
gmail have 2.5gigabytes of space, and its constantly growing. Whole google and his mail services are growing every day. Gmail is very easy to remember, and a lot of people use it. On the other side, you can use your domain to create whateva you wont email addres, yoursite.com and your mail can be admin@yoursite.com bla bla.. .edu domain names means its education, so probobly schools use it, so you can use that account only if your in that school i think btw i hate Yahoo and Hotmail. |

the ".edu" is a reserved name for "educational facilities", so you would have to either go back to school, work for a school or create an organization which could be approved as an educational resource of some kind. Also, there would be big dollars involved, I'm guessing.

You can never get the .edu domain in public because they will never be released for public usage. Like what jlhaslip stated, the .edu domain are only reserved for educational purposes. So your school should have provided you a personal email address for your lecturers to contact you online, they are based on the .edu domains.
A side note to what no9t9 has suggested, the mail service provided in Trap17 holds your domain name given to you. For example if you've requested your webhost domain to be abc.trap17.com, your email domain will be whatever@abc.trap17.com. You can never remove the Trap17.com subdomain unless you buy your own domain to place and point to your email server. Like what no9t9 also said, it's ad-free, totally. You control whatever has to be, more than what you are controlling in other free webbased email providers like Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail. If you are looking for totally ad-free, try the suggestion from no9t9. Otherwise I also suggest you to use your ISP email if they provide you in your internet service as a bundle. I've got an email inbox from my service provider that is totally ad-free as well. It should be the same for you. Otherwise if you don't mind text-ads, Gmail can be your best bet. Since Gmail has been around for some time, you should be well known for it's services and well-likeness. The ads in Gmail shouldn't be very annoying like what you are getting in Hotmail or Yahoo. If you seriously don't like Gmail or using any other web base email services because they include ads, why not download an email client that retrieves all your email messages from your email provider. That you will not see those annoying ads on webpages because you will never visit them again. I suggest using Opera browser. It's an internet browser that is highly reputatable and it's the world's fastest in page loading. It includes an integrated email client and an IRC client as well, so you can check your mails and chat on IRC while surfing webpages, all in a single browser. Best of all, it doesn't take up much resources when using all these features. |

I don't think you'll find a .edu account unless you get it through a school.
As far as other good email providers...check out www.mailhaven.com (they have about 50 domains, so i'm pretty sure you can find one that you like). They have no visual ads whatsoever. They are also very costomizable (hell, if you wanted to you could write your own stylesheet for it...but there are many many really nice ones already made), and quite powerful as well (you can do things like bounce emails, making the person think that you account doesn't exist). I've used them for about 4 years now, and I can honestly say they're awsome. This post has been edited by gaea: Mar 31 2006, 05:12 PM |
