triallian is good. But I don't like its interface. I think Gaim is better.

It does allow you to customize the look of the messenger. You know that right?

Well, I have used Trillian earlier. Was not comfortable with it.
Can't say what exactly was the problem.

As Solanky says, I have switched to Gaim and sticking to it for now.

All cross-messenger platforms have some limitations, like no audio or video chats for example. If you can accept that for your use, you will be very comfortable with any of them. They are the best for simple text messaging.

Save on PC resources - no need to have YIM, MSN, AIM, ICQ etc all to be running at the same time. One software does it all.

My ranking of such softwares:
1. Gaim
2. Trillian

I have used traillian before..but that was before I had to reformat my HD. After that, I havent downloaded the program again.

It is really a kool IM. I like it lots because of the features in which you can use it to connect to so many chat messengers at the same time.

You should try it. smile.gif

I guess I'd better give some negatives about Trillian:

1. It has a multiple user system but logs aren't encrypted (no IM service I know does this but they should) so there's one security issue for me

2. With AIM, clicking the URL "AIM:whateverAIM" would load a new AIM window messaging "whateverAIM"...but Trillian hasn't got that, which is a pain esp. as it's more work to message someone not on the list

3. All the damn popup messages every time you log in...telling you the AIM buddies have been d/l from the server etc. (not too bad but a pain to me :-))

4. Possible copyright infringement that I assume Douglas Adams decided not to do anything about :-)

Trillian .74 is completely free
No : Trillian is closed source. You can't check if it include spywares, and you (or any developers) can't correct bugs. So it isn't free.

If you absolutly want a multi-protocole IM, you should use GAIM.
But the smartest solution is to use the jabber protocole, which is compatible with all other protocoles, and has a very hudge number of light clients.
