The information should be as follows:

FTP address: ftp.yourSite.trap17.net
username: youSite.trap17.net
password: your account password

You should not have any trouble when correct settings are used.

It looks like your software is connecting all right, but disconnecting repeatedly. If your settings conform to what BuffaloHELP has already suggested, then the only problem that I can see must be with your internet connection. Perhaps you can try connecting from another computer/ use another connection and post here if the problem persists?

What others have helped you are useful and if you have tried, just reply again here. Sometimes those kinds of problem persist due to slow internet connection or discrete internet connection (connection is not in a continous flow).

I do have one suggestion to you. If you have uploading xoops directory or modules why not use cpanel. Just upload the zip or tar file directly to the desired location and extract the zip file from the Cpanel itself. Xoops have made very easy to users. You can make use of those. After you have uploaded and extracted the files, just crosscheck if the file permissions are correct or not. For folders cmod them to 755 and files to 644 or 666 as per the requirement if mentioned in README file. If README file isn't there, you probably don't need to do anything.

Install the module or whatever from admin backend.

Let us know if your problem is resolved or not.

With regards.
