Do you want to MAKE a forum? That's extremely hard.

If you just want to use a forum, I suggest downloading phpBB2 (www.phpbb.com).

Like rejected said it is a long process and takes up a lot of time and hard work. I found a tutorial at http://pixel2life.com which has a short tutorial on building the basics of a forum. Hopefully this will help.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

To see a decent "basic" forum, google on "phorum" (no quotes).

http://www.phorum.org/

A nice basic design and moddable, too.

To create a forum is easy but if you mean create forum software, I am speechless. But to create a forum, google "free forum software" and look for good ones like phpBB, SMF, PBB.
And upload them by following their guides. For uploading them, use FTP to make it quick. I recommend FileZilla.

I will provide you some links to give you some idea's on creating a forum

http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/count/...hp_based_forum/
http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/count/...ds_and_replies/

this should give you some ideas on where to go next and what steps that need to be taken as well. Also looking to CMS scripting as well I do believe their are sever scripts on how to start one by scratch.

Also if you go the affiliates section at gfxtrap.com we have several tutorials sites that do cms as well.

Well to create a software would be a little tedious job.
But if you want to use a free one try SMF.
It is quite good and better than PHPBB2

Dear lucaas
You Must create one subdomain at first (forum or forums) on your cpanel
and then choose Your Forum script , for example phpbb or smf or ipb version 1 or mybb or ...........
and then search at google to find install tutorials
phpbb : http://www.phpbb-design.com/faq/install_phpbb.php
ipb : http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/ipb/index.htm
smf : http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/smf/index.htm
mybb : http://community.mybboard.net/archive/inde...hread-3264.html
You must choose your forum script its very important (security , options , template , skin , and ..... ) of script

Mking a forum is a long and hard process you will neeed to know several scripting languages such as PHP MySQL Pearl and possibaly CGI. you would be better downloading phpbb for another forum software.
