Software for Starving Students
ei guys, here is a noteworthy collection of software you can use -- compiled and provided for download in one ISO, Windows and OS X editions. these are just not so-so apps, these are the best-in-class programs which are most useful for students, although anybody else (ie, non-students) can benefit from it too. according to the site, its primary concern is for students to have access to high-quality software, free of charge. WHY??? QUOTE A: The cost of a college education is always increasing -- usually faster than students can earn money. We hope our efforts will help lower students' software costs. notwithstanding the fact that most of these you can download on your own, this collection saves you the time on doing the research for what works best for students, and then downloading each of them one-by-one. GO! Download page here (bittorrent and direct): http://softwarefor.org/downloads.html for a rundown of the set of applications available for Windows or for OS X, depending on your preference (not exactly the same), you can check the list here: http://softwarefor.org/faq.html#q5 just something to download while on vacation, to keep you on your feet when you get back to school when the new year starts! |

It looks a good selection of software. I know it is because I have used half the software on the Windows list, and have got about a quarter installed on my hard drive (Or sitting on my external hard drive).
I am glad that they provided the list, as I am a great believer in choice, and for various reasons I don't like big download packs, preferring to pick and chose my own. |

While that's actually pretty cool. I like how the software is mostly licensed under GPL! In my opinion GPL software might even be better than commercial software since there are so many people who can edit and improve it.

Nice! It's a pity that I can't seem to download the torrent files for whatever reason... perhaps they should be put on the other two mirrors as well?
