This forum has the apiarence of the IPB it is easy to use like the phpbb, there are losts of plugins, themes, ready to be downloaded free.

I have used SMF for couple of forums and sites now. Joomla and Mambo CMS preferred them as forum plugins.
Moreover, SMF is very flexible when it comes to design and mods. And most of the third-party designs that are submitted to simplemachines validates WC3.

It is the best forum system ever because of the following reason (Just for me) :
1.It is totally FREE. 2.It is very easy to install 3.Easy to upgrade , too 4.Simple for our users (I mean members) to use it 5.Mods are really great There , that is what I think , I have used it for a long time

SMF is an absolutely amazing forum system... i use it on my site, it does rss feeds, and seriously, SSI.php makes it better than any free forum software out there, period

it is a really good forum and for those of you who are not yet hosted when you do get hosting, go to your admin panel go under fantastico and you will see that its already a pre installed script all you have to do is create your board very easy to do.. and yes SMF is really coming up, there for a while they didnt have much as many users or people where not using them, but now it looks as if there are alot mor epoeple using SMF boards so there is alot of content such as plugins and skins and alot of other cool stuff so dfinately check them out.

I just wish that they will never go to commercial when they've attained more stable versions of 1.0.* and RC models. It justs take outs the fact that we can't have quality products for free. The community at Simple Machines is very friendly and quick to answer any questions you might have. I've had an SMF forum for about a year and a half now and I have no complaints. I love that upgrading the forum and adding mods only takes two clicks.

I still prefer phpBB as my first choice for free forum software, even the security fix isnt that good for now... The layout of the SMF in the threads view page is still not appealing enough and the features of SMF still can't beat phpBB, even with those mods and addons, phpBB too has them and are better than them...

i have a recommendation to anyone using SMF, look up MKPortal, it was the only portal system that meshed easily with Simple Machines forum, and it was extremely easy. It also supports many different features and addons (modules i believe?) that make it all worth the while xD
i hope you enjoy both simple machines and mkportal, and like everyone said before, you better stay free SMF!! |
