This tutorial was written by myself for your knowledge of Sherwood Dungeon. I will edit it when possible.[hr]BASICS
Sherwood dungeon is an MMORPG (Massive multiplayer online role playing game) where players can get together and chat, fight, and have fun. Sherwood dungeon is a community game, which means you do not follow a storyline, and there is nothing that you have to do, except what you want. GETTING STARTED You start by entering a name and picking a server between Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby. All are the same except for which people you will find, as everyone has the choice. Once you enter your name, click Join Game, where you will first have to pick if you are 13 or older. If you say NO, chatting will be disabled, but gameplay can go on. You will be taken the character screen, where you can view your stats and use the left click on your mouse to turn your character (Click/hold and Drag) and you can change Color, Avatar, and Helmet. You get a choice of 4 avatars, which Are the MALE, FEMALE, KNIGHT (Can choose helmets), and SKELETON, which will make your character look different, but none differ in stats. Color is up to you, for your look, which is based on 'teams'. 2 players of the same color cannot damage each other. [hr]COMMANDS AND CONTROLS To start, you'll need to know how to walk. Simply press the arrow keys (up and down) to go forward and back. The side arrows will turn you. Pressing CTRL will make you attack, and holding it will make you keep attacking. Pressing CTRL AND SHIFT together will allow you to block, which will block all damage from Players and monsters, and allow you to increase damage on your next hit. (Blocking more hits without getting hit yourself will lead to a lot of damage being done by you) Pressing Up and Down arrows at the same time will allow you to dance, and currently there is only one Dance technique, used with up and down. Holding right click on your mouse and dragging it will allow you to turn the camera in gameplay to see better. Pressing TAB will make you use your talisman. There are 4 elemental talismans (simply do damage) and 1 speed talisman (makes you attack fast for a short time) If you get one, equip it in your bar, and press TAB to use. Nothing will happen if you do not have a talisman. There are also type in commands: Typing /teleport # will teleport you to an island, if you do not want to use the portals. (#=1-5) Typing /level # will take you to any floor of the dungeon. (#=1-999) you can only teleport up to your max level. Typing /who will give you a list of all current players in the room. You can also view them in the player list. Typing /fps shows you the frame rate (frames per second) of the game, meaning how well it is performing. Typing /camera will put you in camera mode. View the commands for it with /help camera. Typing /report will report the last 100 Chat messages to the administrator, where they will be reviewed. Typing /logout will log you out of the game to the logout screen. For more, type /help. Also type /join # to join another chat room, which is no different except the people you will meet. (#=1-99) NOTE: ALL COMMANDS MUST HAVE A / IN FRONT OF THEM TO WORK! [hr]SHERWOOD CASTLE AREA (TELEPORT 1) You will start out in the sherwood castle area. The monsters here will match your level, so no matter how high of a level you get, you will do the same damage to these monsters, and they will do same to you. You will always get 50 EXP points from them. As you walk on, you will get to the bridge. Going around the castle leads no where. The NPC (Non playing character-which is a person in the game but is not a person playing them) is the Castle Guard. He will tell you tips on the game, but this will be covered here anyway. Going over the bridge leads to the courtyard area, which is a battle area or chat area. The tower path to the left leads to 2 smaller towers, which are good for battles and view (one side goes over the bridge, see Glitches page for a glitch here!) The other tower path on the right leads up a long pathway to the tallest tower (war tower) a famous place for battles. Going straight will lead into the castle keep (main area) When you get past the dragon statue in the courtyard, you will be in a safe zone, where no one can get hurt. Inside the castle there are 2 portals right away. These lead to Haunted palm islands and Frost bite islands (Teleport 2 and 3). If you are below the level of the area, you will get a warning. Going straight into the hole will take you to your floor of the dungeon, or you can use the /level # command to go to a different floor. Be sure to stop by Lady Marian (next to dungeon entrance) to grab a quest to use on your floor! Going up the 2 ramps on the sides of the keep lead up to the merchant, where you can buy or sell stuff. Now let's go back to the spawn area. (The spawn area is where you start, type /level 0 or /teleport 1 to go back to the spawn area). Now you will see 2 more small tower paths on the corners of the spawn area (outside area) which both will have portals. These portals lead to the last 2 islands, Lost Lagoon and Ancient Sherwood. LADY MARIAN Lady marian is located next to the dungeon entrance. Click her to bring up the quest screen. You can accept it or decline it, and each time you click her you will get another one. Quests vary from 4-10 monsters that you must kill in the dungeon *some include boss monsters* and if you complete them, you will get reward items PLUS Bonus exp to help you level up. If you close the game or logout, your quest will be stopped and you will need to do it over. THE MERCHANTS Merchants are located in every island and will allow you to buy items. All items are the same level as your level, and all cost GOLD. Gold is the currency, which you can find in dungeon barrels or by selling things. If you have enough gold, click buy, and you'll get your weapon. You can also buy rings, shields, and talismans. Click 'Sell your items' to bring up your inventory, where you can select anything and sell it for a price. Talismans sell for a better price! HAUNTED PALM (TELEPORT 2) In this island, you can get to with /teleport 2 or the portal in the castle keep. The monsters in the level are in the 10 range. You will not be able to damage them until at least level 5. The huts in this area are for walking on, battling, and whatever else. You will find the merchant and the quest giver (quests are in haunted palm, not dungeon, if you get them here) on the highest platform. FROST BITE (TELEPORT 3) Frost bite is a snowy area. The monsters are around level 15-20. The buildings in here are snow houses, which have the same relation to haunted palm. You will also find a merchant and quest giver in them. This is the first island that you will find LARGE dragons, which are massive creatures that take a lot to kill. You can get to Frost bite through the portal in the castle keep. LOST LAGOON (TELEPORT 4) The lost lagoon is a dark area with monsters around level 25-30. There is ragged huts here, where like all others, you get your merchant and quest giver. There are higher level massive dragons here as well! Get to it with the portal on the outer limits of sherwood castle area. ANCIENT SHERWOOD (TELEPORT 5) Ancient sherwood is the 5th island and is made to represent the very old sherwood that was first out. The monsters here are level 35+ and the dragons are powerful even for high level players. There is no huts, but rather TEMPLES that act as a base for each color. There are only red, blue, green, and gray temples, as it was built before the new colors, this will be updated later on. The merchant and quest giver is found in the base for the blue players. Get to this place with the portal in the outer limits of sherwood castle area. STATS You can view stats by clicking the health bar, ESC, or the player box on the control bar. Your health is in the upper left corner, and when you get hit it goes down. The bar under the health represents the talisman energy bar. It must be filled up to use. As far as the stats: -Health: Health is your health. The higher your health, the more hits it will take to kill you. This is only for monsters, health is put at an average against players. You get +20 health each time you level up, and you can increase it with rings. (the ring that increases your health while equipped will effect PvP, that's why hacking it makes you invincible) you can also get a healing ring, which increases the speed in which you heal (you heal gradually ONLY when your not attacking) -Armor: Armor is how much the damage the monsters do to you will be reduced each hit. With high armor, you don't take as much damage. This has NO effect in PvP (player vs player) Armor is raised by leveling up, using armor rings, using shields, and using talismans. -Damage: Damage is how much damage you will do to an enemy. The more damage, the less hits it takes to kill the enemy. THIS HAS NO EFFECT IN PVP. Raised with weapons. -XP Level- This is your level, you get an increase in stats every time you level up. You also have access to another floor of the dungeon, more weapons, and more. NOTE: No matter what your level, it will not effect PvP. -EXP-EXPERIENCE shows how far you are from leveling up and how much you need. You get exp from killing monsters and from doing quests, but not from killing players. THE DUNGEON The Dungeon has hundreds of thousands of floors, but you can only go to the floor of your level or below, which means you need to level up more for more access. You can use the stairs in the dungeon to walk to floors below your level however. The level of the monsters on the floors are the level of the floor (floor 5 = level 5 monsters) The barrels on the walls contain items. This can be of any kind, as well as runes and scrolls, and you can get gold. Boss monsters start on floor 5 and dragons start on floor 10. You can use the MAP in the dungeon as well, on it, the green dot is the entrance and Blue dot is the stairs going down, the gray dots are the SPAWN POINTS of the monsters, but they do walk around...and the pink dot is the boss spawn point. ITEM BAR The item bar, (player bar, control bar, whatever you want to call it) is located at the bottom part of the screen. It contains your equipped items and some other things. The first 2 boxes are reserved for weapons or shields. The first can be any weapon, the second can be a weapon or shield. The third is for a ring. The fourth is for potions (heal you 50% when you use them, cannot be used in Sherwood Castle area) click it to use them, also found in dungeon barrels. The fifth is for talismans, and the next is for your backpack. Click the backpack to view your items in your inventory. The one after that is for runes and scrolls. And finally, you have the MAP, which is only for the dungeon. *The last one only brings up the character screen* Remember, Drag an item from the backpack to the box to equip it. PLAYER LIST To view the player list, go to the character screen and click PLAYER LIST. Here you can view all players in the room. Click a name to view the equipment on the player, not counting rings, and their avatar info. You can ignore them with the ignore button, which will make them disappear on your screen, make you disappear on their screen, and neither of you will see or hear each other. [hr]RUNES AND SCROLLS Runes and scrolls can be used to get the new flashy weapons. First find a scroll in a barrel in the dungeon (weapon will be level of the scroll) and find it in your runes and scrolls bag. Now double click it to open it. You will see shapes on it (the runes) so find all the runes in barrels that match the ones you need, then drag them into the scroll area. When you get them all, press cast to get your weapon. SCREEN SHOTS Ever wonder how to take a screenshot? How all those players get pictures of themselves? It's quite simple. All you need to do is press "Print Screen/SysRq" located on your keyboard next to Scroll Lock and F12. Pressing it will take a screenshot for sherwood or anywhere else. Now open a word editor, PAINT, or a photo editor and press CTRL+V (Paste) to put the picture out. Then you can save it to anything. ALT CODE You may see tutorials on this elsewhere in this site, but I will put it here. Alt codes are special symbols (÷×äΆ ÇøÐèS×÷ ärè Îïkë †hïs ☺☺☺) to do them, hold down alt (WITH NUMBER LOCK ON!) and press a number code in the RIGHT keypad , not the one above the letters. See the tutorials section for an alt code list (number codes) FIGHTING TRICKS When your fighting, you might want to use some tricks to help you win. If you hold ctrl all the time, you will get hit and die quickly. If you hold block, the opponent will time themselves to hit in between your blocks. If you attack, then notice your about to be hit, don't continue the attack, immediately block to catch the opponent off guard, where you can then attack and get a good hit on them. While you get more advanced, you can use more tricks. For example, you can double. There are many ways to double. One way is to attack, then right when your arms go down, tap ctrl a few times. Or, wait until your feet click together after an attack, and tap it. You can tap it 4 times, pause, and do that again too if you want. All will most likely result in your opponent receiving a critical, which will help in defeating them quick. Also, when you are doing a 'slash' attack, use the talisman right at the peak for a finishing blow. Island of Heroes (/Teleport 6) The island of heroes is a desert island, now the 6th island in sherwood. In the middle is an arena where you can enter and meet the arena master. You will have 2 options when speaking to him, to summon a squad team or a dragon. Click the squad team to spawn a bunch of characters (Red Soldier, Blue Soldier, etc) which will attack you or attack each other. The same rules apply to them as if your fighting in PvP, but the same rules apply as if your fighting monsters as well. Summoning a dragon will cause a dragon to appear and fight anything. It's armor is great but it's damage is weak, so it might take some time to kill but it won't do much to you. You can locate this island by typing /teleport 6 or by walking up the tall tower path and finding the portal there. This post has been edited by AlphaOfDoom: Apr 7 2008, 10:48 AM |
