While looking around the net I stumbled upon this little tidbit of a site. It's quite odd and little. I personally think that some of it is totally wrong. This post has been edited by Tetraca: Jul 26 2006, 12:21 AM |

lol I really don't get what this site is for. I think it is just a site made by someone who is against teenagers using the internet. I mean there are the sites like myspace on there which I also sort of do and don't care for. I think if people use it correctly it is fine but you see those who give out too much info pay for it. I don't use it personally but you know if people want to blog using it that's fine as long as they don't go out giving random people their information. The Ultimate Showdown I think is good entertainment and I guess they are mad they didn't think of it first. I don't know I think it's a pointless site myself that they have there.

QUOTE("seven scourges") The ultimate showdown is a good flash animation. However, showdowns often follow old crappy and repetitive memes like Chuck Norris. Comments are even worse, often being very very childish and weak in taste. Just look at their showdown between the A-Team and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to see how childish their comments can get. From this excerpt I'm guessing they're talking about the main website's showdowns and not the flash's showdowns. Oh well... |

I noticed that in his Dishonorable Mentions section, he lists Google, Yahoo, and Wikipedia.
And he didn't even tell us why. I fail to see why Google is on that list. I could probably understand it if he has the other search engines on it. But Google's search engine beats the others. And wikipedia is really good for looking up information. |

Seriously though as far as I could tell this guys a genius, especially the MySpace thing, I'm yet to see anything that is worthy of even existing on there (the content of the pages not the people I would never say anyone was not worthy of existence). For the large part MySpace profiles are badly coded and written even worse (I'm not against using short hand, I even dabble in the occasional bit of l337) but there's a point when the assault on the English language must stop. dude and don't even get me started on Runescape, jees is that ever boring, why not just stick hot pokers in your eyes and get it over with.
On the other hand though I did notice a lot of hypocrisy, He stated that the mentioned sites were very low on intelligence and served no purpose at all, well that could be said of this guys site (and his poor handling of DreamWeaver). The contact page is a classic example, just read it and try and find one intelligible thing on the page you won't there aren't any it might as well be on MySpace for all the good it's doing. the inclusion of Google and WikiPedia stumped me a little too, i would guess that his problems are Google fanboy's i.e. those for whom Google can do no wrong, and with WikiPedia I suspect it could be related to the open nature and that sometimes articles are edited so as to be false. |

QUOTE Just look at their showdown between the A-Team and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to see how childish their comments can get. I find this sentence to be extremely funny. Comments on a showdown between the A-Team and the Ninja Turtles are childish? NO WAY! I think a lot of this guy's comments could be answered with a "what were you expecting?" You kind of know what you are getting into at all of these places. |

Ha ha, this site is kinda asking to be critcised because it is opinionated, poorly researched, antagonistic.
On one page at the top the owner/webmaster writes that he will not add any more websites to his list, and at the bottom of the same page he writes he will add more sites to his list. He is critical of css and html standards of other well established sites, yet he uses dreamweaver. He states that Firefox is a piece of crap as a browser, yet he admits to using Opera. He rates one forum site as one of his seven worst, yet his own forum consists of a empty page. One of his ratings is on quality of English, his own English is by no means perfect. Besides, judging by the rude character of some of his remarks, I do not believe for a moment that this person is himself English, the English are usually far more polite than this character. I therefore think that all of the statements made by this person as to the quality of English to be found on various websites are automatically invalidated. |
