Some registry tweaks for Microsoft Windows Media Player
to run Windows Registry Editor (regedit); Click Start menu > click run and type "regedit" . ( no quites). To disable " Upgrade" message 1- Go to the following address: QUOTE HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/PlayerUpgrade 2- Right click In the right panel and then create a new String Value and name it "AskMeAgain".3- And finally give it value of NO, in the Value Data field. To delete last Play List in the History 1- To delete last files go to QUOTE HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/Player/RecentFileList and delete files you want to delete.2- To delete last URLs go to QUOTE HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/Player/RecentURLList and delete URLs you want to delete.To hide Anchor window 1- Go to the following address: QUOTE HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Policies/Microsoft/WindowsMediaPlayer 2- Right click In the right panel and then create a new DWORD and name it " DoNotShowAnchor". 3- Give it value of 1 to hide Anchor window, and 0 to show Anchor window. To change Windows Media Player Title bar 1- Go to the following address: QUOTE HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Policies/Microsoft/WindowsMediaPlayer 2- Right click In the right panel and then create a new String and then name it " TitleBar".3- In value field type Title you want. To remove some Windows Media Player components 1- Go to the following address: QUOTE HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Policies/Microsoft/WindowsMediaPlayer 2- Here you can remove following components : Radio Bar , Media Favorite , Find New Station 3- Right click In the right panel and then create a new DWORD and name it according components you want to remove : CODE Radio Bar = NoRadiaBar Media Favorite = NoMediaFavorite Find New Station = NoFindNewStation 4- To remove components give it value of 1, to restore components give it value of 0. To prevent Windows Media Player from sending ( GUID ) throughout the intenet 1- Go to the following address: QUOTE HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/Preferences 2- Right click In the right panel and then create a new Binary and name it " SendUserGUID".3- To prevent give it value of 0, and to allow sending give it value of 1. To lock Windows Media Player's sking (disable changing skin) 1- Go to the following address: QUOTE HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Policies/Microsoft/WindowsMediaPlayer 2- Right click In the right panel and then create a new String and name it " DefaultSkin". 3- In value field , type skin's name ( for example: Classic.wmz). 4- Right click In the right panel and then create a new DWORD and name it " SetAndLockSkin". 5- To lock current skin give it value of 1, to unlock give it value of 0. To enable DVD features in Windows Media Player 1- Go to the following address: QUOTE HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/Player/Settings 2- Right click In the right panel and then create a new String and name it " EnableDVDUI". 3- Give it value of Yes to enable DVD features. Note: incorrectly editing Windows Registry may damage your computer. Please backup your Windows Registy. Oh this is kool men. I know that Media player is not able to play DVDs unless supported by a third party DVD plugin. Will this hack actually make MEdia player play DVDs without a third party DVD plugin?
Thats my major concern. |
