I'm currently working with my dream project at http://www.laschatz.info/
I developing each single section and then updating the website. Now I've added the "Toolz Vault" section, this section lists a collection of hand picked softwares that are very useful to web designers, application developers, graphics designers and administrators. You can find the new section at, http://vault.laschatz.info/ I've used WordPress to provide the Content management facility. I've made a Custom theme for Wordpress that matches with the Main website and also makes the Wordpress blog appear as a website rather than a blog. I've tested this site in IE7, Firefox 2 and Opera 9. Please test the site, http://vault.laschatz.info/ and tell me any errors so that I can rectify them. ---------------- Now to continue this project I need your help friends. Since this site will list software products, I want them to classified under several categories. But instead of deciding on my own I want the users to suggest the categories you want to be displayed. Once the categories are finialised, I'll start adding the information I've got related to the softwares. Please review http://vault.laschatz.info/ and suggest the categories you'd like to see. The design looks good, and works in Opera 9 on my computer (behind a firewall). I will also try it on Konqueror later if I get time. The only problem I have is that you claim to use valid XHTML, but you actually have 44 errors and 15 info points. That also means the CSS can't be validated. As for the categories, you say yourself that the software is aimed at web designers, graphic designers, developers and admins. Why not use those as the main categories? People could quickly and easily find the software related to their job or the task they are currently doing. You could then sort each of those into sub categories once you get a few software titles in each one.

Although I find the design really good I´m not sure that the dark blue banner goes so well with the content part. I think you could work a bit more on the banner. And you should remove that "progress" animated gif because it gives the impression that the site is not loaded, as it's the same thing that appears in Firefox while loading a site. Anyway looks promising and professional alike. I also agree that the categories could easily be divided in different works (designing, developing, etc). Good luck with it.
I´m using Firefox 2.0.0.2 and looks ok. |

I didnt make the design to be valid XHTML and CSS because it makes use of several plugins that insert the codes that will me the code invalid.
I want you to suggest the subcategoreis for the main categories Web Development, Graphics, Application development etc. |

Yup, looks great.
Under Open Source, add OpenOffice.Org, the GIMP, MYSQL, APACHE, XAMPP, WAMP, Firefox (and particularly the list of extensions for Web Developers), ConText Editor. All Freeware I use. Also, does the method you have allow for multiple Categories?, Like, Gimp could be listed as Freeware, Open Source, and Graphics Software? |
