Fortunately, Trap17 goes beyond your expectations! Not only is safe-mode off, you don't even need to upload Joomla! Trap17 has Fantastico in its cPanel and you can install Joomla! directly without uploading, etc. The Fantastico installer takes care of all the permissions, folder creation and configuration. Its really easy with Trap17.
If you are willing to pay for the web hosting, try ComputingHost, they offer the same features but the server performance is better and you don't have to post on the forums. |

As for Trap17.NET, as far as I know php safe mode is off, so you can upload it, but there is currently a 330kb filesize limit, so it may not be possible. |

That is very true, but Fantastico will genrally have very old releases of the software it installs. For example, the current version of Joomla (as of Monday, June 5) is 1.0.9, while Fantastico is only at version 1.0.4. I don't really see what ComputingHost has to do with this, but whatever. |

Fantastico should have updates to its versions of software.
Anyways, try uploading the Joomla! Package by each ROOT directory. If you are installing it into a specific folder, that is easier. Try uploading each ROOT DIRECTORY folder one at a time. That might be better for Trap17.net. I recommend Drupal better than Joomla! Don't know much about Joomla!. |

The best way of installing any content management systems including joola is not using the fantastico but uploading the latest version. Get the latest version of joomla 1.0.9 from joomlar.org site and upload using the Cpanel in trap17 do not. Database must be created before you go on with the procedure of installation. And regarding safe mode on off issue I think you can get help from joomla dot org forum. You just have to insert few command line in the htaccess file in your joomla root folder.
And for a member who suggested you Drupal, I think drupal is a little bit more complicated for beginners especially for component installations. |
