Now I've always wanted to make a web game. Now I have time. I keep getting suggested both php and perl. I know alot about php and stuff. but I hardly know anything about perl .So what would (if anything) make perl better than php when programming a web game?

Either perl or php is good enough for a web game.

Whichever language you're most comfortable with is the best language to use.

Another deciding factor is how your webhost handles each. The one I currently use, Tripod, only allows CGI. I wouldn't use it to make a game, however, because they will only run a script for a couple seconds. Hunt around for games made in both to base your decision off of. PHP is mostly supported by webhosts so I would suggest php in place of perl but then if you get a host that supports perl then its cool too. wink.gif

Mainly there's no difference between Perl and PHP, due to the fact that both are server-side scripting languages. The main feature of PHP is his high portability, this means that PHP could be used for a lot of things (eg. SQL); Perl is mainly used FSO (For Scripting Only) wink.gif.
Anyway, I had lot of fun programming in Perl and I really love it as a scripting language. So, my final suggestion is: Perl for life smile.gif
