I don't want to break your enthousiasm but i'm afraid it's impossible to make such MMORPG on your own, even when you're working in group i think it's a hell of a job to get it done..
First of all you need money, lots of money so you can buy a high quality-server with an amazing bandwith!
Second thing, you've to find yourself a team of talented programmers, designers, 3d/2d artists and webmasters... you can't simply fix the job on your own!
Making an MMORPG cost lots of time and money so you would better play one of a team which works day and night on it! (e.g. WoW or Guildwars)

Exactly! Say you do make some mmorpg, of which there will probably be about 3-4 existing clones, since you all use the same engine. Better start saving your change, since you'll need a couple thousand for advertising, because how else will people know your game even exists? Next, you'll need yourself a couple top of the line servers, each costing a couple thousand each. Then you'll need to hire people to work as technical support for your game. And there's much more, which I don't have the time to type. Basically, just look around, and show me a successful game made with 'Playskool' tools. Every successful game required whole teams to work on the project for at least many months, usually years.

After you make the game, you can just sit back and relax, you have to keep updating it, adding more stuff, fixing bugs, keeping people happy. This will become an important part of your life, and I really can't see any of you prepared for that, I can't see myself doing it either. There's just this desire I see all over the internet to create mmorpg's, but there is nothing to bring it to life. Why can't people just be happy with making a FPS, it's definitely easier.

Here, I'll make it a bit easier. If you don't know at least 1 programming language, game making isn't for you. If you don't have extra money, game making isn't for you (unless you're going to release a free game, which I'd highly recommend you make for Linux). If you don't have at least 2-3 hours of free time every single day, game making isn't for you (no myspace, only focusing on your game). If you don't like math, game making isn't for you (unless you get really lucky and find a rare, excellent wrapper to do most of the work for you). If you don't play lots of games, then I'm willing to bet game making isn't for you.

There, maybe this will prevent someone from wasting lots of time or snap them out of an illusion, but I hold these to be simple facts.

That was so many logical fallacies rolled into one sentence! wink.gif Look up "False Dilemma", and "Strawman Argument" There were others in there too, but I don't feel like looking them all up wink.gif

False Dilemma: An argument that that fails to acknowledge a middle ground, or an assumption that there are only two possibilites.

If you don't know programming, you can learn programming. So just because someone doesn't know programming now does not mean that game developing is not for them.

Strawman Argument: An attempt to prove an argument by exaggeration, or under-statement.

It's not true that only programmers can make games, or that only current programmers can be programmers.

The best way you could make a mmorpg is buy milkshape for $25 then buy realm crafter I think it's called for $100, as long as you want to make one for cheap

MMORPG creator? Really? If it gets really famous and many people get in your computer will crash, since you're hosting the server from it.

Real MMORPG Servers are hosted in servers like these:

Still, an MMORPG creator sounds cool. Wonder how it works or if it has grinding by defaulr or anything like that.

Creating MMORPG\\
Make Your Own Mmorpg

Well, I'm completely new to this creating MMORPGs but I know I will be great at it because ive given Pirates Online lots of great tips to make their game better and I figured, instead of doing that, why not make my own game, of course, it will have missions and level ups and stuff like that and it will b free, thats the best thing of all, lol, anyway, I only as, if someone has already made their mmorpg and has it up running, can they explain to me how do I first start, like what I do as soon as I'm interested in creating one, what site do I download whatever I am to be looking for, and Please send it to my email at enricojoevanjohnson@yahoo.Com.

Thanks
