Well thats why you have to find a pattern or something like that to posting in the beggining because I have 52 hosting credits and you guys obiuously see that I disapear for some amounts of time now. Well I simply make certain kinds of posts and I plan ahead in certain cases. Thats how I keep my credits up and I dont find it a problem at all. I think its just certain people who dont like posting, so then I could see a problem. But really I find absolutley nothing wrong with the staying active thing. Plus if you read on xisto.com they say that Trap17 and Astahost where not ment for profit but to build a well grown community of people. Therefore members generally needing to be active. So thats why it slike that.

They will earn money through advertising, and they will have an attractive community where lots of people are active! If your too lazy to post here you dont deserve hosting at Trap17! |

It's free hosting.
To you it's free but someone pays for the hosting. OpaQue give you hosting that he's paying for. Since you don't pay for the hosting, advertising here pays the hosting. When you create a username and start posting you may do it for 2 reasons (or more) 1 you are looking for hosting, 2 you like the community and would like to contribute. Both reasons are valid and good reasons. Now there are no pressure on you to post anything, your hosting credits go up and are not reduced in any way if you are inactive. As soon as you asked for hosting you entered into another status it's now a contractual agreement between you and Trap17. You agree to post and stay active and in return you receive free (In a monetary way) hosting from Trap17. If you don't stay active you are breaking the contract and your account will be suspended and after a set time it will be terminated. In real life it's like buying a car and not pay the car payments and then be pissed at the dealer because your car was repossessed. Stay active, create some good posts and your hosting credits will increase faster than your post count. If you know you are going away for a period of time, post so you have 5 to 10 hosting credits more than the time you are planning to be gone. You had to be inactive for more than 30 days after your hosting credits hit zero before your account was terminated. If you had 10 hosting credits that means you were inactive for more than 40 days. If you need to be inactive for that long, who looks after your website / forum during that time? Nils |

Well sometimes it's hard to reply. There are many topics that I don't have an interest in. I'm not going to post in those topics just for the sake
of staying active and earning credits. That's basically spamming. I would rather post a good post or 2 once a week than post 50 posts in topics that I don't have an interest in. But I agree with the majority. This webhost is giving professional hosting away for free, and all they ask for is that you stay active in the forums and <- snipped -> once in a while. That isn't asking much, but that's what I think. If this is all they are asking for, and one can't seem to post regularily or at all, then they don't deserve to keep free hosting. They should just start looking into paid hosts.} |

8bit, I can understand why you don't want to have to post every day, but if Trap17 just handed out hosting accounts and you never came back here again, it's a loss for the company! -6 isn't far down; really. Remember, in posts quantity is not important; quality is. You could have 50 posts and have -6 hosting credits but have 20 posts and have 50 credits.

BTW I'm so stupid....how do you make your account come back? Be active again? |

I think you mean hosting credits. But anyways, the longer your posts are, the more hosting credits you will receive. This hosting credits system is independant from the post count, meaning that credits are earned through the size of the post, not the number of posts. To get your account credits back up over the negatives, just post 1-2 good posts a day, and in no time, you'll have your account unsuspended and have a sufficient number of hosting credits. This is a good strategy to have. I've used it also, and it works good for me. |

I sometimes find it hard to reply to nearly all of the topics because they don't suit me. Although there are a wide variety of topics etc I still can't find one to suit me. And when I post my own, no one posts in it because other people have otehr interests lol. Thats probably why people are not active any more..? Because they aren't finding stuff interesting... ? maybe... |
