I must say, though, what happens after you die is you are moved to a mourge where you drained of blood and organs and replaced with fromeldehyde and makeup where your brain will finally completely die. Then you are buried and rot in the ground for a few years. If there is any afterlife that you go to most modern religions will allow you to go into a heaven as long as you are a good person. However you are probably doomed to eternal damnation if a pagan religion is correct. What complicates this is the entire matter is a game of Russian Roulette, this matter of the afterlife.

As I wrote somewhere, if you step back, well back, and look on things in timespans of tens of thousands of years, the religious beliefs of any one time and place fade into insignificance.

To have an afterlife, one must first exist, and do we, or are we the product of a vivid imagination, which one day may get bored and kick us into the nether regions of their mind.

If we do exist, then I believe we do have some kind of afterlife, where we all go to prepare for the next life in our journey of self improvemnet.

There is no scientific answer for this question, the only people who know the answers are those who have died. For the rest of us, we leave it to religion. For some, there is afterlife, for some a paradise is waiting, for some incarnation ... etc As for me, I am a Catholic, so naturally, Heaven and Hell are the only 2 destinations.

I wish to belive in life after death. But so does everyone. If people belived when you die, thats it. Alot of great things wqould of been done by normal people. Everyone expects death to be easy, well it isn't going to be.

I'm sorry. but I don't agree. The most likely "thing" that happens after death is well, nothing. No matter what that person had been thinking throughout their lifetime.

It really depends from which point you are looking, if you are looking onto the person or creature that has died, then obviously there may be some feeling of compassion, or "humanity" as it has been labelled, or you may be feeling guilty about the bad things that happened;
They really shouldn't matter! over time those things will die out with you / them.
If you are trying to imagine yourself looking from the viewpoint of the person that died, then it is (for most people (and for all, although some may not see it that way as they are very single minded and know what they want to see)) quite difficult to imagine what would really happen.
Quite simply nothing should happen. All different religions have ther different (some similar) beliefs but simply religions are something created by us every religion is the same. They believe that their religion has some part in the world or maybe had some part that took part in everything even before this world was created / occurred.
Because of this, religions should not be taken into account when looking from a dead person's viewpoint seeing as we have come up with them, and as there are so many different ones, they most likely can't be used to describe life, or the lack of after death.

And reverting to the "energy is neither created nor destroyed" quote referred to earlier. True, but think about your context.
When something dies energy is not destroyed... it merely changes to a different form: the energy in the materials of the dead body (if buried goes back into the soil...

I've said a lot, but nowhere near enough to back up the reasoning and the reason and the actual answer to the debate.
Well, I believe that nothing happens. Its hard to imaging what nothing is as we simply aren't used to considering that ort of thing. But all thought sieces (therefore including every belief the person in question carried with them. ) and everything for the "person" in question, life merely continues for those of us remaining alive here.

This is one of the big questions that really comes down to where you lie religiously and with your feelings on life. I honestly don't know where you go or what happens to you. It's scary that it's possible that all you do is stop breathing and get buried in the ground. It's one thing that has racked my brain for quite some time and has given me some eerie thoughts. Do our souls leave our body and go to the clouds somewhere and we get judged? Do we just have our own version of heaven? Do we get reincarnated? Do we just rot?

I would like to believe that we go to heaven. But there are just so many questions that don't make sense. Who gets in? Anyone? Everyone? How can one answer be right and one be wrong? I really can't begin to get into that thought process. It's really deep and I like what some people have said here...but don't see how one answer is more logical than another.
